I'm sure Sydney used to be a far paler sky colour than what they've presented here. This is a much more saturated blue.
Could be to differentiate between them and Melbourne City?

Its varied a fair bit over the years. This was the kit immediately before the one you’ve posted, and it was a fair bit darker.
If there was to be a deliberate differentiation with City, you’d think that Sydney would be wanting to be the lighter shade, given that they’re officially “sky blue” while City are “City blue”.
