I was just thinking,

what would be more enjoyable to watch?

- your team winning the grand final in afl

or

- the country you support winning the FIFA soccer world cup.

what does everyone think?

Agree with Mags

(Richmond, not Collingwood though)

Could not care less about the Australian soccer team.

No contest. Winning the Grand Final every time. One day I might even get to experience it.

A Swans premiership is my personal sporting Holy Grail.

Close seconds would be the All Blacks winning a Rugby World Cup, Sturt winning a SANFL Grand Final, Tasmania winning a Pura Cup and the Washington Redskins winning a SuperBowl.

Soccer ? - I'm bored to tears just thinking about watching it.

cheers

As a French born Kangaroo supporter I can say that as good as the two North Premierships that I have been to were, nothing compares to my experiences in France during the World Cup in 1998. The feelings and emotions that engulfed us on the Champs Elysee on that night was so incredibly overpowering and intoxicating that I don't think I will ever be apart of anything like that again. The experience was just indescribable.
Outside the Olympics the World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world, so there is no better feeling than to know that your nation is the best in the world in the game the world plays.

Of course, because Australia will never win the World Cup, you'll never understand. Maybe the AFL, or NRL premierships are the best you can hope for.

Viva La France

your team winning the grand final in afl for sure! It's not that I dont dislike soccer, but the AFL grand final is something your team has worked hard for all year (and pre season!) If I was born in a mad soccer playing country where it was the main sporting code then I would probably go for the soccer optinion.

The World Cup is something you work hard for 4 years.

Flag is better by a mile. I happened to be very lucky in 1996 when North won their first flag in my time as a supporter (since 1981), and the Germans backed it up by winning the European Cup soccer.

Of course I would want both! Is there a rule against that?

If so, I would prefer to see the Tigers get up for #11. They have been a near life long passion and to me is far more important than I sport that I only take an academic interest in.

This is a hallucination and these faces are in a dream. A computer generated environment; a fantasy island you can do anything and not have to face the consequences.

Winning the world cup is the biggest sporting achievement in the world

4 years of tough gruelling preperation and qualifying.

An afl flag is like worthless compared to a world cup... not saying that im pissed off the mighty adelaide crows have two of them!

I agree with Devo and QT, there would be nothing better than winning a cup representing your country. (not only the World Cup but what the "Wallabies" have done
was JUST THE BEST) and I am a rugby league gal.!!
I can understand how the rest of you guys love your local teams, but winning a local comp. nowhere near has the exhileration and thrill that would follow seeing your country bring home a cup in soccer, union or league.
I was just so excited when the Wallabies won their World Cup trophy recently and as I said before I follow rugby league, and a bit of afl.

The Flag for the Eagles by a long way.

But the question is skewed. Ask a Liverpool supporter if they would prefer winning the Premier league championship or FA Cup versus England winning the world cup and 95%+ would go for the Liverpool win.
4 years of hard work is really off the mark. International teams only get together for around two weeks a year, the rest is spent with their clubs.

That is the ultimate without a doubt. But given that a premiership is the pinnacle in our game, and is more realistic of achieving, it is more important to me. I have been lucky enough to see the Roos in 4 GFs - 2 losing and 2 winning and I wouldn't trade the day for anything..

Why don't you ask a Manchester United supporter to see what they think.
