Was that the worst tackling effort you've seen in a while?

I'm struggling to remember when one of our players actually landing a solid tackle tonight. It was disgraceful.

We desperetly need to teach the boys how to tackle properly, by taking away the oppositions hands/arms so they cant get rid of the ball.

I was just about to start this thread. The amount of times they either broke our tackles completely, or managed to get a kick or a handball away whilst being tackled or even gang-tackled made me sick. It really looked like men playing against boys at some stages. Especially in the middle of the ground. Was really pathetic.

Another thing that majorly pissed me off was our lack of sheperding, and lack of talk.

I'm not sure if it was Grigg in the centre square when Stevo got the ball, but he was waiting by Stevo's side for a handball, but when the handball didn't come he just stood there, while Stevo got rundown from behind. These are elementary school errors. Sheperding is a bloody basic 1% along with letting a bloke know he's hot.

yes our tackling is really bad. We are still only holding onto the hips and let the opponent do an effective handball. But most of the time we cannot hold on to the tackle, i remember in the 1st quarter one brisbane lion player broke 3 tackles in a row from the CHB and managed to run all the way to the centre. it's pathetic to watch!

^very true.
also, why the f_ck would you handball to a stationary team-mate who has an opposition player charging at him???? your basically setting up your own team mate to get tackled/ give away a free kick. Gibbs was a major culprit. decision making was horrible. When in doubt bomb it long doen the line ffs!

What had me pissed off most of all was these idiotic, loopy handballs to men in the corridor, which put us under immense pressure time and time again. So bloody frustrating - don't over possess the ball by hand if you can't control it, especially against the best tackling team in the competition, FFS. :thumbsd:

Your still a "D" grade team that lack depth. No amount of hype can change that.

What a pudding-head you'd be. Our own coach called us B Grade in 95. That pretty much puts us around an F at the moment. Your rating skills are clearly compromised.

And hype? What hype?

Dont even bother pretending to be a competitive side . The Lions rested players and still did it easy. Last year you guys appeared to throw games that you MIGHT have been competitive in. Operative word "MIGHT". Judd will be long gone and you will need stax more PRIORITY picks before you guys rate. Try pashing you first cousin why dont ya.

Why don't you try f@#king right off our board you smarmy f@#king tosspot!

It has been said before, but surely we could borrow the coach from the Melbourne Storm and teach some of our softies how to lay a real tackle.

Agree Bronze - With Storm training at Princess Park surely someone could approach them to assist with some tackling drills. And get the storm to also teach our boys some of the controversial wrestling moves that they use when tackling players - give us a bit more mongrel against sides

A real kn*b jockey and hyprocrit you are seeing that you flag winning streak was built around priority picks, hand-outs, inflated salary cap and unbelievably generous handouts.

2 minds think alike
the only guy laying half decent tackles was wiggins was at least 2 or 3 where he grabbed the waist and pulled down the arm
great work wiggo:thumbsu:

Problem with our tackling isnt necessarily a technique but more a preparedness to do it issue as we have blokes like Stevens who dont attempt to tackle or shepherd or even want to get in the path of a leading forward, i thought he was gonna cry when he tried to spoil Brown and thought he was gonna get smashed.

Johnstone, Black, Brown, Roe and Drummond were all rested last night???

Been saying it for quite some time. The sooner Armfield's injected into our structure the better too. :thumbsu:

Yet everyone wants to bring Houlihan back in. He is really going to help with tackling, shepherding, smothering and courageous acts.

Our tackling and hardness was unacceptable. We really need to go hard at the player rather than the ball. Although the tackling technique definitely needs work, we allow opposition players to keep their arms free. Our shepherding is a joke at the moment. I think if all our players tackled at shepherded like Eddie Betts we would win more games. When Eddie put Rishchetelli down on the wing I was relieved. I do not understand why we don’t clean up opposition players more often, it is fair and against the rules and will help raise the hardness and confidence our players lack.
