It's probably come up 1000 times already but Im interested in what Freo fans think of picking up Solly?

What do Hawthorn fans think of picking up Hodge? Was he the best pick available at the time? You really can't tell until they get on the paddock and play a few games for their new team can you?

Oh you know how to hurt a Hawks fan :D Lmao, Nah mate your right, Im not one of the fools in denial...

Hodge over Judd = In hinesight the biggest stuff up ever... :(

Lol, But Hodge is a gun to so Lol, whats done is done..

As for Solly though I think if you could strip the extra bulk off him and let him play his natural running game off the half back flank then he could be a huge asset to your side.. A dirty bugger, but very talented :p

Apparently they want to play him in the foward line. They can use him to clear space in the fowardline for Pav and Tarrant

Forward line? How very odd.... I suppose it could work out...

Tarrant should have an improved season, He isn't a natural leader/initiative taker and so needs a mature figure around him during matches to starighten him out..

He didn't get much of that at the Pies... However your mob have a bloke playing at CHF who seems a very good candidate for the job. :D :thumbsu:

You know who im talking about;)

This guy is the perfect role model for any footballer.

Stand him in the middle next to Josh Carr and just DARE anyone to try and cross that line!!!!

Solly will be a good player, not the least because he has plenty of good players around him. But didn't he finish third in the Essendon F&B a couple of years ago? They don't give 'em away over there.

Turn him lose in the forward line to clear a path for the big boys.

I'm a believer.

You've made the mistake of calling a dirty player a gutsy player. Soloman has given more sacktaps then any other comp in the league, bit if push came to shove hes the last guy who'd be willing to stick his neck out for his club.

He's dirty as all get out but I think you'll find he'd be the first bloke to stick his neck, chin and head out. And he'd dare you to knock it all off.

Not many could. Which is why James Hird went out of his way (while over here to promote his book the other day) to say Solomon is one of those blokes who makes every single one of his teammates walk taller.

He gives away enough 50 metre penalties for him to be aliability on the halfbackline. He's not injured, he's lost bulk, he's not holding down full back.

He'll go good.

Im not saying he wont go good... I think a change of enviroment out of a the nuthosue that is Essendon to a quality club like Freo should refresh him into some good footy.

We do have differing views on his guts though..:)

About your Halfbackline point, that may be so, but Essendon were such a good side for the time he played that role for them it didnt matter. At Freo however I doubt your coaching staff and the leadership group would put up with it and he'll definatly be pulled into line...:thumbsu:

that's rubbish...i don't know of many other players with such a passion for the club he plays (or played) for and his team mates. yes, he's a little undisciplined at times, but i wouldn't want anyone else going in to bat for me.

Ease up, that was uncalled for and a pretty stupid thing to say. Is having a crack at a young West Aussie who just lost a season 'adding value'?

He has an opinion on Solomon which has been discussed in this thread pretty well until you showed up. Where has he not 'added value'? The Essendon guy with the spelling issue added nothing, but Bill has been ok.

As for Solly, I am keen to see if he can get back to the form he had a couple of years ago once he trims down. He has always been on the dirty side, but he has damaged Ben Cousins so he gets a tick in my book. Sides with those dirty players win premierships (see WCE, Brisbane, Port).

Solly will be a great player for Freo. He was too heavy and therefore too slow last year and too injured the year before. He's always given away dumb free kicks, but when he's playing well, you can forgive the odd indiscretion. If he can cut some of that stuff out of his game and gets super fit, he’ll serve the Dockers really well.
