With Collica, Wooden, Chambers, Wilson and Seaby having decent runs on the weekend and Phil Read coming back from injury the pressure is lifting on the guys in the side to hold a spot.

These were the ones that were looking shaky during Saturdays game.

Haynes: Really struggled, got under the ball a lot and failed to do what a key player needs to. In his defence some delivery was ordinary but I think Wilson or even MacDougall deserve a run again and their height will allow for more grabs on those inaccurate passes.

Morrison: Had the run-with job on Buckley after Chick was injured. Was too loose and Buckly was instrumental in their comeback, looked like he could do with more confidence, back to the WAFL and replace with Wooden or Collica or Read.

Cox: Too many times this year when Woosh has given Gardi a spell has this coincided with the other team getting a run-on. Is it time to blood Seaby and give Cox a wake-up that he needs to work harder around the ground?

Chick: Simply, don't play him if the calf is stil suspect. Bring back Wooden or Collica or Read.

I believe we need to give some guys a rest in the WAFL now and then to keep them fresh for the whole season. The brand of footy Woosha has created is very hard running and accountable. Come September there needs to be plenty left in the tanks.

I don't think Morrison deserves to be dropped because Buckley played well. Thats being a tad harsh. Cox is carrying an injury but who else do we play as a backup? I'd imagine the coaching staff wouldn't want 1st-gamer Seaby up against that thug Stafford. Haynes is an interesting one. We have only seen him play at FF recently so we are unsure how he will go in other positions. I don't think McDougal will play until he gets back to the form he was in for Perth last year when he forced his way into the team. Jacko will come back and Gaspar might as well.

uhuh totally agree there. Woosha's policy of performance in the WAFL first is a good one and leaves the players with no questions as to what is expected of them. Its time we started rewarding the boys who have been playing good footy in the WAFL with a spot in the team for the tigers game!

Yes, did forget about Jacko.

Would he be the man to step up to FF. He would be able to out-body Gaspar more then Haynes.
No way Jako will play at FF. He's far too slow and would be a liabilty going the other way.

I would be suprised not to see Wilson come back in, and Jako will return at CHF. Only other change is likely to be Read in for Chick.

yeah. I think Jako is good at the CHF line where he can mark and pinpoint to another forward. Wilson definately deserves to be back into the side, Im not sure who for though. Read for chick is preety simple. Id like to try and get Collica back and maybe Gasper too. The tigers are a tall team, no use having all our shortys in the side this week!

Haynes might go this week, Wilson should be the likely replacement

Chick is a big concern for us, his tackling and attack on the footy has been huge for us - anyone know of possible replacements from the WAFL?

Read is the only one as hard as Chicky and will have to come in. I guess the other player who'll be considered will be Wooden.

I would also expect to see Rowan Jones (who has been in pretty good form) step up and deliver some Chick style intensity as the number 1 tagger. He's doing a lot of that work already, and had 5 or 6 tackles this week.

uhuh for sure, Read would be the only sensible replacement for Chickadee.
On Rowan Jones- I think he is one of the most underrated players at our club. Very rarely does he get beaten!

I think Wilson will come back in but I dont think Haynes will be dropped, rather moved to the half forward flank.

How far is Trav from being back??

Jako will come back in somwehere

Players who I thought had poor games on the weekend - McIntosh had a shocker, Rocca outplayed him all day, kicked 4 and could've kicked 6 or 7 or 8, and was clearly to quick for Milli while he was always going to be far to strong for Carroll.

Phil Matera had a pretty ordinary day, but in the end kicked 2 goals, which is a pretty good return, and if thats on a bad day, imagine what he'll do on good days (Well we've already seen it).

Daniel Chick started out pretty good but died off, but after his season thus far and in particular last few weeeks, he is very safe.

Who have we got out at the moment.

Wooden - hows he's form??
Gaspar - whens he back??
Wilson - we all know how well he is going
Read - is he back this week??
Collica - hows he going??
Chambers - saw him on the weekend on Fox Footy and he killed it against South Freo.
Adkins - how'd he go on the weekend
Munro - same question??
Jako - back this week I presume

Who else?? oooo yes

Lynch - whats he been like??
Johnson - same question

Thats a pretty good list of backup players, as our depth has been questioned, but I'd dare so no clubs, or at most very few, would have that sought of depth. Including our starting 22, you'd say that probably Johnson would be our number 33 player, and I could think of doing alot worse than that.

Also looking at our list who would you drop??

I really can't think of anyone, although obviousbly you'd say Hunter will be.

The guys who were shaky coming into the match I think all did enough to retain their spot:

- Braun: 13 touches and was constantly in and under packs. Still playing a useful role off the bench, but I think mentally is struggling to come to terms with the fact he is no longer in the strongest midfield at the club with the emergence of Kerr, Judd and Fletcher, and Chick coming to the club.

- Carroll: Tarrant probably got the better of him, but didn't punish him on the scoreboard at all, but Carroll did a better job than a lot of other guys who done on Tarrant this year.

- Humm: Has a pretty ordinary game, and may get the chop, but after his last quarter efforts I'd be disapointed if he did, but with Read possibly to come back there doesn't seem to be anyone else.

- Hunter: Wasn't orginally selected, and didn't do much wrong, but didn't do much right either outside of his goal that got us on the board in the 4th term finally.

Looking at the guys to come back from injury who are definates in the side there is Gaspar, Read and Jakovich.

If all 3 are ready than Humm and Hunter will go, and probably Glass because we wouldn't have much of a point going in with 4 tall backs (atlhough I normally would find it advisable against Richmond, but Ottens and Holland are both out injured), while Richardson will kick 10 behinds to every goal.

I wouldn't think we'd bring in anymore than 3 players one week after beaten last years grand finalists away from home.

our Johnson play's for Swans noodle..

My opinion...Jako, Wooden, Collica in...
Out: Morrison, Humm and Chick with his calf.

Players who will come close and could be selected... Read, Chambers, Lynch, McDougall.

Keep Haynes, i don't see the point in playing Wilson, yeh he's going great in WAFL, but we need to get our youngsters ready... e.g McDougall, Lynch, Johnson, Wilson will be cut after this season for sure, so why play him now, when we've got these kids on the side who will be at the club for the next 10 years hopefully!

You said what I'm thinking. Hopefully he stays this week to get a bit more confidence up, then we can give Milli a rest next week.

I thought Glass was pretty good- definitely our best option for Richo- if he scrags him like he scragged Tarrant, Richardson will lose his rag and throw one of his famous tantrums.

I still subscribe to the 'boofing Woosha's Wife' theory for Glass.. There's no other explanantion.

My ins and outs? A lot depends on Chick's fitness. Assuming he's right to play:

In: Wilson, Jakovich
Out: Haynes, McIntosh

Milli has had a very busy last few weeks. He did an outstanding job on Longmuir, Neitz and Kingsley, but his fatigue was showing against Collingwood. With a matchup against Lloyd looming in a fortnight's time, I reckon the way to go is to back Glass and Carroll, and give McIntosh a week off, so he'll be absolutely tiptop for the game against the dons.

Given the poor form of Haynes, and Wilson's dominant efforts in the WAFL, it doesn't take a genius to realise that a return for the big fella is on the cards. Should be interesting to see what happens this week- if Wilson doesn't get a game in the next fortnight, I don't think he'll ever play AFL again.

If Chick isn't okay, you can probably substitute Read for him, or if Read hasn't fully recovered, Wooden.

If Cox continues his poor form, then Seaby or Johno are probably about 1 outstanding WAFL game away from an AFL guernsey. Collica continues to battle for a place, but the guys he'd have to knock off are either Banfield, Morrison, Humm or Green. The first two weren't great vs Collingwood, but would probably need three poor games running for Collica to get a look in. As for Green, he looks like a permanent fixture atm- playing some good footy.

Doogs is in the mix, but with Jako working so well at CHF, its going to be hard for him to shoulder his way in- i thought that that last round would have been his best chance, but nothing came up. At this stage his best hope is a drop in form of Carroll or Glass, and Jako being pulled back into defence to cover.

As for Wooden, Chambers and the other midfield 2s, their only hope is to be unrelentingly brilliant in the WAFL week in week out, and keep sticking pins in voodoo dolls in the hope that we'll cop some more injuries.

Seriously, I would think we're going to be forced to do a little spring cleaning at the end of this year- we have fantastic depth, but thats not entirely a great thing- it can damage your chemistry if players are working their butts off and not getting selected. Some of our WAFL calibre players would actually fetch decent prices from other clubs, especially our ruck backups. My tip- thin the ranks of the reserves a bit, and trade for as many draft picks as possible- that'll guarantee the continued dominance of this side for a few years down the track.

yup I'd agree that if wilson can't get a game at the moment then he never will. the bad news is that i think we won't see the train bust'n heads on the afl field again.

if he does get a call up then he will need to score a minimum of 3 goals and provide crumbs for our small forwards to stay in the team. a tough ask given gaspers form for the tiges.

I don't think Haynes will be dropped, even if he doesn't play at FF this week. He's still more than useful across the HF line, and gives another avenue to goal (especially if he gets the #3 or 4 backman).
