Autopsy Some promising signs but Hawks too good

I hope you're not pretending that I'm one of the ones who complain about change for the sake of it. I wanted several changes over the off season, some of which seem to have occurred.

I don't need to be patient to know that Blakey is an attacking half back who should not be converted into a KPD. This is already obvious based on the contribution he's made in recent years, we don't need to "wait and see".

It was a general statement, there’s too much blaming the coach after one game. It’s just one performance. I was happy with us trying things except Hanily should never have been the sub but that’s a side point least this week he shouldn’t be

All three were HTB. Ray's interpretations are terrible. Doesn't mean that they are incorrect but they SHOULD BE. Roberts shapes to HB then doesn't, Wizard drops it cold, Day makes no effort to dispose while attempting to break the tackle(s). So actually, IMO, the umps on the field got them right! Miraculous.

Which muppet thought it was a good idea to get Ray in! Fair dinkum just when we got rid of the bloke

I don't think going with 2 KPDs was the sole thing that did us in.

Hopefully it's rectified this week against a likely taller, more full-time forward line.

Hanily as sub was fine on its own, except that we then didn't play Adams in the middle, which would be the only reason you'd have him in the 22.

Unfortunately for Hanily, I think Corey W had a good 2nd half and shouldn't be dropped, we'll still need Sheldrick for mid rotations, and we probably need another tall in for Adams. I doubt very much a Florent or Hayward is making way for him to have a full game. But if we decide to stay smaller at the back and forward, or we just put Jordon or someone else in the middle more (with Sheldrick sub), then he definitely should come in for Adams.

Should just be a straight in for Adams not really losing sleep over Adams not being in the side he looked pretty cooked.

I suggest you watch some more of Florent's footy before making such ill-considered comments. Florent copped it huge for that shanked free. A free that he won with a great tackle. Yes it resulted in a goal but it's no worse than McInerney shanking another very gettable kick for goal. A shank that cost us a goal and also gave the ball back to the Hawks.

Mistakes in defence always look worse than mistakes anywhere else. Truth is we got well beaten in the midfield

Florent is certainly not disposable.
Yeah not totally disposable .. he performed better this week against Fremantle …absolutely right ..mistakes in defence really stand out. Nick Blakey should learn to take a mark in defence instead of fisting the ball all the time eg back to Fremantle in the dying seconds which almost gave Fremantle a match winning goal before the siren

What really irks me about the 2 handed fist is that it's often done by the extra defender at the contest. So even if he was to drop the mark, there's still an outnumber at the contest as opposed to turning it into a lottery with the 2 fister to nowhere.

Its a fist and hope for the best instead of taking what is often a potentially gettable mark
