Campbell plays hardball, throws his crutches accross the table in heated contract negotiations. Result: around 500k a season (in the contract negotiation before this he walked out on the club - the deal with North fell through at the last minute - and he was made captain barely 18 months later, knifing a club legend, Matthew Knights, in the process)
Gaspar plays hardball in contract negotiations. Uses Freo's interest to inflate his worth. Result: around 600k a season
Ben Holland plays hardball in contract negotiations. Uses Adelaide's interest to inflate his worth. Result: around 400k a season

The tail should never wag the dog. If a player wants to play that game, you should call their bluff next time. With Miller now at the helm, I don't think these mistakes will ever happen again.

BTW, Frawley was also a poor choice as coach. He learnt his coaching trade from probably the worst coach in the last 20 years, Tony Shaw. For Ottens current form lapse, substitute hime for A.Rocca during the Shaw reign.

Agree 100%. As much as it may pain the supporters at the time of the decision, it is in the best interests long term for the RFC.

Having said that, I would be interested in peoples thoughts on what the RFC should do if Couglan says he wants $500K per year over 5 years.
