Im going to head down the club soon and have a meal and pay my respects, the saddest part is that where TSW and others have placed their tribute is mere meters from where I saw JMac in person for the first time just 2 weeks ago on the Monday after the Brisbane game.
It has become glaringly obvious to me that when you follow a club and devote yourself to following the club as much as we all on here do, we follow the players, we welcome them, we emotionally invest in them, we will them to succeed. It is because of this reason what has happened has hit me in a direct emotional way.
JMac was one of ours, he was a part of Port Adelaide, we wanted him to succeed, we wanted him to be part of our success. When he joined us he became a part of our long history and now he is gone he will forever be remembered by a club and its supporters that value the contributions of all players who devote themselves to our cause. JMac did that in spades.
I no longer see myself as a supporter of the PAFC but an extended family member because a mere supporter wouldn't feel like I do today.
We are Port Adelaide - this rings so true to me today, days ago it was just a slogan.
