Maybe for people who a) don't work weekends, and b) don't socialise

Also, this is one of biggest weekends in Broken Hill and there's a lot on so I'll be partaking in some community activity.

I don't think anyone really knew exactly what post punk was other than it was mostly music from the early 80s after the punk movement.

The early Cure stuff would probably be closer to post punk than their later stuff so El Dubya was probably right not to accept Friday I'm In Love.

It's not exactly up there with some of the controversies surrounding some of the other songs in that playlist though.
Friday I'm In Love isn't post-punk but neither is Paranoid Android which he accepted. That said, he probably only allowed it because he's a massive Radiohead fanboy.

I still maintain that there's an argument that every song that can be broadly defined as indie/alternative rock in the last 40 years is "post-punk".

If you were nomming some U2 from Boy or October, definitely. Maybe not so much Beautiful Day.

I have no idea what "post-punk" is, but I'm sure that U2 in their early days were it.
This song has a post punk feel to it right down to Bono's terrible peroxide blonde hairdo.

I remember that song getting one of the biggest roars at the Perth Ent Cent on their Rattle and Hum tour here in 89 when they rolled that out.

I think it was the only early 80s song they played, everyone was hanging for Sunday Bloody Sunday but they only play it on special occasions.

Like St Patrick's Day.

Has anyone done a playlist for this round?

I don't know if this song was nommed but it was an obvious controversy bote whore with the slavery, interracial sex themes.

It wasn't the only controversial song off Sticky Fingers.

This song created a bit of controversy too for it's anti-Vietnam sentiments.

Sticky Fingers is as close to the perfect rock and roll album as I can imagine.
