Listened to the first block - 7 to go then a cheeky listen to the whores.

Top eight won't be hard. Nothing is really begging to be voted for. A couple of SPANKAS but that's it.

Stoner Rock listed as a fusion genre on Wiki's Psychedelic Rock page. Fits the theme as outlined by Golly AFAIC.
Ace. I had also considered that something from the Canterbury Scene might also get in on the grounds of fusion ... all just helps to illustrate what a generous and broad theme it really is.

Genre talks always turn into a pissing contest.

Calm down all and stop whinging about noms. It's ruining the song contest
There is literally a shitload of psychedelia linked genres, Psych rock, folk, soul, trance, dub, neo.

They're all around the mark. You like the song, vote it, you don't, don't.

Here much less in between votes now due to all the bullshit, **** sake.

Is it just me or does Fight Test sound a lot like Father & Son?
Yeah, it's a fairly well known "homage".

"Fight Test" is musically very similar to Cat Stevens's 1970 song "Father and Son." Stevens, now Yusuf Islam, is receiving royalties following a relatively non-contentious settlement. In an interview with The Guardian, front man Wayne Coyne stated

"I want to go on record for the first time and say that I really apologize for the whole thing. I really love Cat Stevens. I truly respect him as a great singer-songwriter. And now he wants his money. There was a time during the recording when we said, this has a similarity to 'Father and Son'. Then we purposefully changed those bits. But I do regret not contacting his record company and asking their opinion. Maybe we could have gone 50–50. As it is, Cat Stevens is now getting 75 per cent of royalties from 'Fight Test', We could easily have changed the melody but we didn't. I am really sorry that Cat Stevens thinks I'm purposefully plagiarising his work. I am ashamed. There is obviously a fine line between being inspired and stealing. But if anyone wanted to borrow part of a Flaming Lips song, I don't think I'd bother pursuing it. I've got better things to do. Anyway, Cat Stevens is never going to make much money out of us."

Keeping in mind this is a band that later remade Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band and Dark Side Of The Moon (with people like Henry Rollins, Peaches, Miley Cyrus, Maynard Keenan and J Mascis among others).

Love for Tame Impala and King Jizz but no love for Pond

Not only is it in the playlist, I came very close to voting for this exact song. :p

TBH I use most of my votes in this contest to vote for underground artists I haven't seen posted on the forum as a whole, unless there's a song I particularly love. I'm also trying to preference great new releases too. That probably comes close to giving my song away (my posting in the music section also generally does a good job of that), but I don't expect it to get botes anyway.

Does Pink Floyd just get whored out in this contest? Don't get me wrong, they are one of my all time favourite bands, and Us & Them is one of my favourite songs by them, but surely they had songs more suitable for the theme.

****, you even could have been a campaigner and nominated Echoes.
