How many times do we have to do this? Whores refer to over nommed artists. Tool nommed 17 times with 10 top ten placings. Whoriest of whore bands anywhore. I want diversity in this list, not the same ol

So even if someone noms their most obscure song, it's a whore?

Nice baritone but you're not wrong about wearing the influences on his sleeve. They are heavy and bold and instantly recognisable.

I think Hurtsville is the best example of his work even though he has matured with every album.
Hurtsville is probably my favourite album and song by him.

Although Playmates has grown on me recently and I am enjoying Blue Poles.

To you, yeah. But pretty much everyone else has a different definition of whore.
The point is, as host, I'd like a list without all the bands that everyone is overly familiar with from them being nommed repeatedly. There are thousands of artists on the planet - let's use them to create a more diverse song list. You can go back to nomming the usuals on Wednesday night. You'll all survive and in the meantime you might find there's a band you've never heard of that, holy cheese sandwich, you might like!

I am unable to contribute with any real integrity to this round

I still plan on enjoying it

Plenty of seats in the operating gallery

Just say swiss cheese sandwich you jerk.

Yeah, they aren't bad albums. The synths help distance itself from being swimming too close to a crooning Cave album.

As far as influences go I think he has a sound of his own currently but is easily influenced by the people around him. Whether it be a raw Jimi Kritzler sound or when he works with Kirin you can definitely hear it in the recordings. It will be interesting to see how his sound changes as he continues to grow.

Agreed. Initially I didn't like the first half of Blue Poles too much, but on repeat listens I'm beginning to enjoy the diversity of the record (though admittedly the slower tunes like White Flag, Feel Brand New and Merciful Reply remain my favourites).

Kirin's influence is pretty clear, but I don't really mind that. He's a very talented man, which people don't tend to realise because of the dickhead image. Also hearing a bit of Donny Benet influence on tracks like Susan. The Dreamlanders are a bloody good backing band.

No doubt that Kirin brings out the best in Jack as an artist, but that's what he does so well. When he played with Mercy Arms (which you could tell were probably a little to limiting for his sound) he gave them an edge that raised them above the indie by numbers bands of the late 2000's. He is definitely someone that you would want to work with to progress and push the boundaries in developing your style.

As for Jack, Blue Poles connected with me more immediately than Playmates. But I think that's because I was at first disappointed with it being the follow up to Hurtsville.

LOL. Do like this. And now I'm hungry.

You were on your way to the billy before you got DQed.

In fact someone who billied you originally decided not to change back after you were let back in, so you would have won the billy regardless so you can shove your blame up your own arse.

Nah

Dali is an old Richmond board poster on like his 10th/12th account.
That's a relief. I thought it was like.... He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named resurrected.

What's the matter with you? "I Got Erection" is an all-time classic punk song. Turbonegro have been touring the world and closing their sets with that song for the past 20 years. They packed more feeling into those two minutes and 28 seconds than the Arctic Monkeys managed over their entire career. I don't know anyone can listen to that godly riff and the anthemic singalong chorus and think it's a shit song.

This thread is a joke.

How can I be the only one to billy this steaming pile of manure?

Look at 'em all headbanging in the video, eyes closed and rocking the F**K OUT:eek::D
And then listen to that stupefying, boring shit coming from your speakers.

Yeah, I'll have a Big Mac, large fries, medium Coke and a Foo Fighters, please...
