It wasn't until secondary school where they had PCs that could handle the behemoth programming of windows 95 or 98 that some real games were attainable.
They gave every student an allocated share of storage on the server, so we installed quake and played that every day. If the teachers knew about Alt+Tab we were in trouble, but they really weren't bright

Yeah, we used Mavis Beacon first, but Typequick really launched my typing skills :D
I actually considered nominating music from Mavis Beacon.... but when I youtubed, I was reminded of how bad it is.
It has been ages since we played Typeracer :D
Reminds me of the typing thread from a while ago :D

I used to play that too  . Memories. You're a fair bit younger than me though so I'm surprised that it was still around for you.
It and Type quick are the only games I can remember that were installed on all the school computers, I didn't realise how old it was til I looked it up just then.

When I was even younger I remember playing this:

There was also an underwater diving game I remember from year 1 or something that I can't find on Google, and a few others.

Was anyone else a Neopets fan?
I played that game for an embarrassing amount of time ....
Definitely. Loved a bunch of the games on there. Fuzzy Invaders From Beyond the Stars or whatever it was called was awesome, and the Chess game was great (the one where you got different warriors who had different abilities and the more rounds you won the stronger they got).

SM I remember Math Blaster too :D . My parents were big on educational/pseudoeducational games.
I also played the Magic School Bus and Carmen Sandiego games.
When I was very young (4/5), I played Granny's Garden. I was surprised to learn that it was made in '83!

Yeah. I can't remember which I played at school and which at home. I loved Carmen Sandiego at home.
