I hate the award because it's nothing but bullshit hate speech toward younger people by old crusty flogs.
Yes, yes it is.

Anyway on to the Limpy Award itself.
Its not indicative of a lack of musical talent or ability, in fact being brilliantly talented counts for nothing.
Neither is it (as some incorrectly assume) awarded to anything not rock or rap- in fact just the opposite.

To be eligible for the award the artist must have some element of either just corrupted almost beyond recognition by their whining millennial ways.

Thelma Plum is ineligible for instance, as is Kylie, as is Brainbug etc.

Intersting that Sigur Ros made the Hottest 100 in 2008.

Going through the yearly lists was an rewarding trip down memory lane. Then as the years go on you recognise less and less names and realise that you're old.

You need a cleanse of hang-pan music to cleanse yourself from all the racket.
Lol I'm only 30 and I feel old when I look at the lists these days haha. It's because Triple J represents the music of today's youth, those under 25. So of course they aren't going to play AS MUCH of the stuff I loved them playing ten years ago ( and still love today). Same goes for those who were in their teens/early twenties in the 90s and rocking out to their version of Triple j.

I look out for a lot of new music. Stuff Triple J would have been all over in the past. When I looked through the 2018 list there was very few I recognised. Not sure if it's just due to my growing Aus music disconnect

Now this is harsh because they are almost ineligible due to genre but **** it, they have guitars and amps they should be able put up something less feeble than that pathetic effort.

Surely Gonzales being a Gen X also renders them ineligible? Only millennial artists should be eligible for this award.

Yes, as someone who is a similar age, I know that JJJ is aimed more at the (very) youthful. Although it's hard to say if their demographic has changed much, do the youth who would have listened to JJJ in the past prefer PBS/RRR, these days, has JJJ become too "mainstream"? I dunno, it's all beginning to sound the same to me lol. As long as people are enjoying themselves.
