I was kinda hoping for a podium for the Wire nomination. Thought it might've been a chance, especially as it was one of the few songs which didn't sound like it was by old farts. Maybe a few people had fallen asleep after 25 songs. Sixth is alright, I suppose... It was a decent playlist. Well done everyone.

5. Robert Plant - Darkness Darkness
4. Bob Dylan - Cold Irons Bound
3. Metallica - Moth Into Flame
2. Stephen Malkmus - Middle America
1. Leadbelly - Where Did you Sleep Last Night

BM: Gil Scott-Heron - I'll Take Care Of You

HM: Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, Weird Al, Buddy Guy, Glenn Cardier, Morricone, Einaudi

Gotta give this to Rammstein, they're an extraordinary band.

I used to work for this lovely old British man Bob (he sadly died the week I resigned from working with him to move interstate and I couldn't get to his funeral) and he and his wife were just the best, old school poms, loved me as I'm also ex-pat (I lived on homemade fruitcakes) and we bonded over stuff like The Office etc... he had brilliant musical taste, saw everybody as a youngster (name a British band of the 60-70's and he'd seen them), his wife was a hardcore fan of people like Patricio Buanne but the one time he dropped my jaw was when he told me they were both hardcore fans of Rammstein and that a lot of people in their age group were too. Something clicked for them there.

Loved that bloke. Take away the fact my wife absolutely adores Rammstein and I only nommed it because she said to me repeatedly this last weekend "this new Rammstein song is a banger" (not to mention I've seen them and she was too young last tour so I gloat a little) so my nom for Rammstein was a tribute to my wife but also to Bob White who was a bloody champ and died more suddenly then anybody I've ever known.

I was really trying to figure out who'd nom Rammstein other than me.
How good are they live though?! They go off!
