Lemon D - I Can't Stop

11 votes, 4 billies

Unbearably repetitive and headache inducing , and that was before the vocals started. — MWPP

The title is misleading, I couldn't wait to stop this annoying repetitive shit — Plugger35

*reaches for Panadol* — por_please_ya

Pretty interesting song, enjoyed this, grew on me as the song went on. — NinjaSwan

The excellent drumming saved this from being nothing more than soundtrack music to a bad mid '90's action flick. — Hoos

Not the kind of thing I can just put on. It's fine. But nothing special. — Loonerty

I Can't Stop?? That's a shame, they should've done exactly that before they started recording this. — roo2macca

Billy Joel - Blonde Over Blue

11 votes, 2 billies

A very worthy #11 and an old favourite . I was taken back to my early days in the competition when BoB nommed it. I miss him — MWPP

Deep cuts off late Billy Joel albums are like slitting your wrist with a butter knife. — Chappyuk

This song is a good example of why Billy Joel became irrelevant in the 90s — Plugger35

Quite a pleasant song, there's nothing bad about it and yet I'm not shortlisting hmm... — por_please_ya

Why does every BJ song that isn't a piano led slower tempo track sound totally unconvincing. Sounds like he's trying desperately to fit in. — Hoos

Hmmmm. Really conflicted with this one. At times I enjoy it but at others it's really lame and cheesy. Leans more towards the lame and cheesy side. — Loonerty

Is there anyone who epitomises whitebread, inoffensive, FM Radio music than Billy Joel? — roo2macca

Weezer - Beverly Hills

12 votes, 3 billies

Yard-sticked because it made me laugh on the first listen , but culled on the relisten — MWPP

Do all Weezer songs sound the same? This is just the Sweater song with different words. — Chappyuk

I like some of Weezer's songs but this isn't one of them, lazy dumb college rock shit — Plugger35

They've just reaffirmed that Beverly Hills is the last place I'd wanna live. — por_please_ya

I’m a pretty big Weezer fan but this is probably one of their worst songs — NinjaSwan

"Hey... I know... Let's rip off Queen and Joan Jett" — GreyCrow

Catchy little ditty. Anyone notice the chord progression in the chorus? — Hoos

Jeez, I like Weezer but this one is pretty lame hey. Hugh Hefner in the video clip is pretty funny. — Loonerty

This steaming pile of shit with corn and flies is something I'd expect Chad Kroeger to write. What the **** happened in the round that this podiumed? — roo2macca

Rolling Stones - Slave

14 votes

Bland. Expected better from this famous mob — MWPP

Sounds like the Stones just going through the motions and resting on past glories — Plugger35

Overrated mehness — por_please_ya

The closest thing to funk you'll get from the Stones. Saxxy — Elton Johns Wig

My favourite post-Taylor Stones song. How many on here have heard of it? Five? Maybe ten? — Hoos

This one is a bit of a miss by the Stones for me. Don't feel anything listening to it. — Loonerty

Every artist/band has their bad points. No shame in that, or is there? — roo2macca

The Strokes - Razorblade

16 votes

Promising intro which was then ruined slightly by the amateur karaoke vocals — MWPP

Not my favourite Strokes song but it's from my favourite Strokes album — Plugger35

Something about that opening guitar riff brings me joy — por_please_ya

Speaking of ripping off songs. Queen, I can understand but Barry ******* Manilow? — GreyCrow

This was very cool. Lovely meshing of both guitars and a nice throwback, '60's sound in there somewhere. — Hoos

Yeah pretty good — Loonerty

First Impressions paled in comparison to their first two albums, although the singles were stand-outs. This wasn’t released as a single and, therefore, wasn’t a stand-out. — roo2macca

Megadeth - Trust

17 votes, 2 billies

Not my usual taste but I appreciated the variety and depth in this , especially on relistening. — MWPP

I liked the drum intro but not much else — Plugger35

That soft guitar change was unexpected. Quite a decent tune, like the melody of the chorus. — por_please_ya

Not the worst by-the-numbers metal track I've ever heard, but pretty forgetful nonetheless. That all too brief acoustic interlude almost saves that song. — Hoos

Meh. Vocals not powerful enough to get beyond the typical thrash metally guitar. — Loonerty

With a name like Megadeath, I was expecting death metal, not tame middle-of-the-road metal. Weak song title to content correlation. — roo2macca

Tool - Ticks and Leeches

19 votes

I appreciated the intensity of the instrumentals initially, but the vocals and lyrics ruined it. Lucky to avoid my billy. — MWPP

Surprised it's taken 4 songs to get the first metal track. I did like the slow bit in the middle when they sounded like the Smashing Pumpkins and not Tool. — Chappyuk

I was intrigued by the intro, but then he started "singing". Brilliant drumming and guitar, however. — por_please_ya

Liked the intro though probably a bit heavy for my tastes. — NinjaSwan

An unmelodic dirge, then a nice heavy riff...then they put me to sleep. And whoever produced it should be brunchf**ked. Terrible mix. — Hoos

**** yeah, great stuff. The moment around 6 minutes where it all just kicks back in is fantastic. — Loonerty

Tick paralysis would be a better alternative than having to sit through this. As would jumping into a freshwater lake infested with parasitical leeches. — roo2macca

Middle Kids - Mistake

20 votes, 2 billies

Heartfelt , bittersweet and so relatable — MWPP

I liked this more than I expected, more for her voice than the music though — Plugger35

Lovely vocals and indie vibe — por_please_ya

Have heard this a fair few times before but really like this song, and with nothing new jumping out as a 5 this will get it. — NinjaSwan

A bit too much paint by numbers music for me, just a bit dull. Was hard to find a billy though, probably wouldn't get it in 90% of rounds — Elton Johns Wig

Yet another generic sounding modern day rock song. Mediocre. And I'm being generous. — Hoos

You're welcome roo. — Loonerty

We all make mistakes; mine was listening to this. — roo2macca

The Stone Roses - I Am the Resurrection

23 votes

Pleasant background listening but dragged on a bit — MWPP

Bangin' toon, I would've nommed this myself if it hadn't been nommed before — Plugger35

This song is only good in bits and pieces and not as a collective — por_please_ya

What's this? Melodies...musicianship...a middle eight? I'd never heard this before. Even the long instrumental section was impressive. Loved it. — Hoos

It's almost there for me. Quite good, but not the standout so far. And now it's dragging... — Loonerty

You're the resurrection and this is your contribution? Jesus would be disgusted. — roo2macca

Spin Doctors - Two Princes

24 votes, 1 billy

Uplifting blast from the past which takes me back to my childhood. I then “rediscovered” this song as a teen in 2007- a time in my life when this was very relatable. — MWPP

It's lucky I don't have access to a gun. — Chappyuk

I didn't mind this song until it got played to death and it hasn't aged very well either — Plugger35

I didn't even know who sang this song, nor do I know the words, but man, the nostalgia! — por_please_ya

I really can’t blame her father for not wanting her to marry him when he’s wearing that stupid sunglasses and leather jacket combo (often inside) for the entire video. Catchy. — NinjaSwan

Meh. As unremarkable as plain mustard in a bruncher's crevice. — Hoos

Classic 90s song. This was in a K-Mart ad or something right? I have vague memories of seeing it on a TV at a K-Mart. — Loonerty

If you want to punch our larynxes, just go ahead now. — roo2macca

The Atlantics - Bombora

26 votes

Makes me think of busking at the Sunday markets — MWPP

This would've sounded pretty cool back in the 60s but it just sounds pretty dated now — Plugger35

I feel like I'm baking away on a Mediterranean beach and I like it. — por_please_ya

I love surf music — Elton Johns Wig

Cool little track. I'm not the biggest fan of surf music, but I liked this one. — Hoos

There's a restaurant in Wollongong called Bombora. Or was. They might not be there anymore. Really good breakfast menu, right on the harbour with wonderful views up the coastline. Lovely. This song however is only ok. — Loonerty

It was nice of someone to dust off their parents' vinyl collection to nom this. — roo2macca

Great song, Crowie. It should've won, or at least podiumed. Bloody kiddies don't know a classic when they hear it. — Back One Out
