Devo - Freedom Of Choice

28 votes

Groovy beat and captivating video but pity about the chorus — MWPP

Hit me with your dated mediocrity. — Chappyuk

A shameless whore but a great one all the same — Plugger35

The video got me craving donuts. But I loved the chorus and some of that funky keyboard. — por_please_ya

It’s alright but I feel like it hasn’t aged very well. — NinjaSwan

Not my thing, but a decent catchy pop song all the same. — Hoos

Not too bad but not blown away. Not really what I'd expect from Devo, though I only know like two of their songs. — Loonerty

I had the freedom of choice to listen to this. I wholeheartedly regret that decision. — roo2macca

Thanks for your votes, you people with impeccable taste. — Back One Out

Idris Muhammad - Could Heaven Ever Be Like This

32 votes

Classy overall with jazzy instrumentals in this but it dragged on. — MWPP

Saves the day. Amazing song. Thanks to Jamie XX for introducing me to it. — Chappyuk

Classic 70s funk sound, would've gone down well on Soul Train — Plugger35

OMG Jamie xx sampled this song, I didn't even realise this was the original. Groovy! — por_please_ya

Hadn’t heard of this before, different to what I usually listen to but quite enjoyed it. — NinjaSwan

Imagine if Jamiroquai had a clue, he could make something like this — Elton Johns Wig

Lightweight pop/funk. A good reason to get the f**k out of the disco. — Hoos

Not really my kind of music but it's pretty enjoyable. — Loonerty

I’m glad that this exists so that Jamie xx was able to sample it and put it to good use. — roo2macca

Bad luck, Chappy. Good tune. — Back One Out

Quaker City Night Hawks - Some of Adam's Blues

34 votes

The lyrics were sound but the style was too much for me . By the end it sounded like noise. — MWPP

I'm not a big blues fan and this dreary song didn't convert me into one — Plugger35

HERE COME OLD FLAT TOP HE COME GROOVIN' UP SLOWLY HE GOT - oh wait. Wrong song. — por_please_ya

Dirty bluesy shit, love it — Elton Johns Wig

This got my todger twitching. That nice heavy, bluesy swagger makes me want ton start brunching. — Hoos

This isn't my thing at all. Least enjoyable song so far but I doubt it's bad enough to cop my Billy. A good breakdown will give it a boost. And it never came. — Loonerty

I'm pretty sure this song has been recorded under 100 different names by "supposedly" different bands. — roo2macca

Deserving winhner. Love love love the guitar on this track. Psychedelic blues from the underworld. — Back One Out

5. Could Heaven Ever be Like This?
4. Freedom of Choice
3. I Am the Resurrection
2. Bombora
1. Swarm

HM: Northeast Party House, The Strokes, Tool

Billy: Beverly Hills

Freedom of Choice - I had the freedom of choice to listen to this. I wholeheartedly regret that decision.

Two Princes - If you want to punch our larynxes, just go ahead now.

Beverly Hills - This steaming pile of shit with corn and flies is something I'd expect Chad Kroeger to write. What the **** happened in the round that this podiumed?

Ticks and Leeches – Tick paralysis would be a better alternative than having to sit through this. As would jumping into a freshwater lake infested with parasitical leeches.

Could Heaven Ever Be Like This? – I’m glad that this exists so that Jamie xx was able to sample it and put it to good use.

Some of Adam's Blues - I'm pretty sure this song has been recorded under 100 different names by "supposedly" different bands.

Bombora - It was nice of someone to dust off their parents' vinyl collection to nom this.

The Haunted – I have nothing to say about this which is reflective of the song. Just a whole lot of nothing.

Wax Simulcara - Is Wax Simulcara Latin for incoherent mess?

Swarm - Feel the noize... don't sign to a label that names themselves after a Quiet Riot lyric. They're better than them but that's like saying bathing in lemon juice and razor blades is better than a roundhouse kick to the nuts.

Blonde Over Blue - Is there anyone who epitomises whitebread, inoffensive, FM Radio music than Billy Joel?

Trust - With a name like Megadeath, I was expecting death metal, not tame middle-of-the-road metal. Weak song title to content correlation.

Drop the Pilot – Animal, mineral, physical, spiritual… what is this, 20 questions?

You Dropped a Bomb on Me - I wish I did.

I Can't Stop - That's a shame, they should've done exactly that before they started recording this.

Slave - Every artist/band has their bad points. No shame in that, or is there?

I Am the Resurrection - You're the resurrection and this is your contribution? Jesus would be disgusted.

Davidian - Not bad, but then the singing started.

Razorblade- First Impressions paled in comparison to their first two albums, although the singles were stand-outs. This wasn’t released as a single and, therefore, wasn’t a stand-out.

Far Far Away From Home - I never knew Led Zeppelin rip-offs dated way back to the 80s.

Strings and Drums – Paint by numbers “punk” (using that term loosely) rock. Boring.

Free At Last – Listening to this makes me wish I was the guy in the canoe getting chomped on by a shark.

Mistake - We all make mistakes; mine was listening to this.

5 Billy Joel- Blonde Over Blue - a very worthy #11 and an old favourite . I was taken back to my early days in the competition when BoB nommed it. I miss him Drunkgoliath 13th

4 Joan Armatrading - Drop The Pilot - I found myself singing along. Lovely voice and unique lyrics. raskolnikov 15th

3 Middle Kids- Mistake - heartfelt , bittersweet and so relatable roo2macca 7th

2 Megadeath - Trust - Metal isn’t my usual taste but I appreciated the variety and depth in this , especially on relistening. NaturalDisaster 9th

1 The Atlantics - Bombora - Makes me think of busking at the Sunday markets GreyCrow 4th

BM - Lemon D - I Can’t Stop - unbearably repetitive and headache inducing , and that was before the vocals started. The Jesus 14th / actual billy
