Nah, don't get me wrong... I'm a fan of Kendrick.. I liked Maad City, TPAB and Damn. I applaud his storytelling. I just think there's room for people like Ninja to rap about stupid shit. A parallel example would be goregrind and pornogrind bands singing really f**ked up shit. Some people detest them on the basis of the lyrics without seeing that they're supposed to be humorous.

I dunno... I grew up watching movies like Toxic Avenger, Evil Dead, Re-Animator and Dawn of the Dead and laughing at all that shit.

I also enjoy the kitsch element of Die Antwoord. I reckon people don't seem to realise they're taking the piss and having fun. They get sneered at not being more "deep and meaningful". Which is why I brought up Macklemore and Kendrick...

I don't get the hate for Die Antwoord Vs Enya. What do people dislike about it exactly? Ninja/Waddy is actually a pretty good rapper with nice flow. Are people just recoiling from his South African accent? Or is it the gross-out porno subject matter which offends the puritans? Pfft. I think it's funny. I think it's awesome and twisted to mix that with Enya.

They are polarizing- some get the joke, others dont.

I personally think Waddy is a phenomenal rapper, his pre Die Antwoord manifestations jump between technically brilliant and creative genius.


The fake Souf African accent he puts on nowadays for Die Antwoord no doubt annoys some but Im pegging that the billy was locked in with the "Your period blood has crystallized" line.
