There's so many people that think he's going to make a massive difference to our team that I thought it was a joke thread.

Not quite as bad as the 'Ryan Murphy is being wasted in the WAFL' threads used to be I guess.

Fills a need. We need a bit of a spark in the forward line. He has had flashes of brilliance and can hit up a target. Lots of nothing in between though in some games. In truth, if you looked at the wafl season, Crozier has been more consistent and has contributed more than Walters, just not sure if Freo will play him yet.

Walters is the best kick in the squad, bar none and yes his goal sense is much better than Mundy or Hill.

Walters loves a shot as much as anybody, but his goal sense is so so AFAIC but still good enough to be in our team. Mundy was actually quite a good goal scorer before his recent fitness/form/whatever issues, but Walters is one of those value for money fwd players - few possessions, lots of scoring.

He's not that amazing, but aside from say three players at Freo, no one is really that amazing at the club. Ordinariness is the order of the day when it comes to the list.

He's better than a lot of other fan favourites though, like Suban.

Walters has kicked 17.20 at WAFL level. Having 37 shots after 8 games is a fair effort.

He has some flaws, getting on the scoreboard isn't one of them.

Exactly, he's just one of those players that finds a way to hit the scoreboard. Mind you, there have been plenty of those who've managed that at WAFL level only to struggle in the big time ... *cough* Murphy *cough*.

Plenty of average to below average players in the team at the moment. Doubt he'll be as ineffective as De Boer up forward.

We have one thread a week whining about Silvagni's absence, but I can't recall any game that Silvagni has been a match winner. Can with Walters, however.

When Walters was in form he was eddie bets-like. Had one of most precise kicks in the team. Mundy's is currently flourbagging it and hilly needs walters in the forward line to show how good he is.

I think that I kinda agree with all the criticism of Walters, and I really don't think that Lyon will play him (still in the bad books - maybe forever?), but I agree with all the posters who really seem to crave him out on the field. He's got something. And after watching the garbage disposal, the lack of confidence etc on the weekend, the Sonny i remember (too few and far between, I acknowledge) would just add something to that. (Ok, yes, i am looking for the magic bullet...)

That game where he kicked the winning goal against brissie, well, you just knew he wouldn't miss. That he wanted that moment. Unlike half our players who seem to freak out when they have to take responsibility for a set shot. Any set shot. Any shot!

Except Mellington. He seemed to like that moment too. I think that that has been an under rated injury :/

You asked the question. Pretty tough to come up with match winning games by a full back, but FAL came up with a pretty good one. Big call saying Walters > Silvagni on exposed AFL form. Having said that I'd pick them both this week

Aside from that, Silvagni is playing woeful footy in the WAFL. He's played a handful of reasonably good games. He lacks pace, height and ball handling skills. Most sane people are sick of hearing his name. He's the most overrated Freo player I can recall.

Well, we're getting unjustified comparisons to Ryan Murphy in here, so if anyone's the new Ryan Murphy, it's SNOS.

Reasonable breakthrough season with smatterings of decent games, gets replaced the next season by a ring-in, cries of "play Murphy/SNOS" and "drop Tarrant/Dawson" throughout the board in spite of form not warranting selection.

My favourite game changing moment from So-Son was when he tried to mark a certain Pav goal, stole our momentum and we lost.
