To be honest, i'm a bit hesitant to believe this kind of news. Hadn't the Titans first NRL match been sold out weeks in advance?

Why then did 10,000 fail to show at Suncorp? This kind of news should only be made public (at the least), a few days before the actual matches as it discourages those looking to buy tickets.

Mate, wouldn't it have been easier just to type 3?

Find me an article saying the Titans sold out a week in advance. The only news about tickets was the Wednesday before the game when they reported that 45,000 had been sold to the Broncos match and 40,000 had been sold to the Titans match.

Try that on the 16th,

... historic opening NRL game against St George Illawarra at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane may well be a sell-out, with at least 45,000 tickets pre-sold by late yesterday.
Funny how 3k didn't show then?

Not to mention this article on the 11th.

The first article is obviosly a mix-up with the Broncos game since it quotes their pre-sold figure.

As for the second one;

More than 200,000 fans are tipped to attend this weekend -- a figure that would eclipse the previous highest mark, set in 1999, by more than 30,000.
The figures will be helped by what looms as two sold-out matches at Suncorp Stadium -- Friday night's Queensland derby between Brisbane and North Queensland and Sunday's historic encounter between Gold Coast and St George Illawarra.

...

The decision appears to have paid off handsomely for the new club with the full-house sign likely to go up at the 52,500-seat stadium for both matches.
It doesn't offer anything other than an opinion.

Origin 2 in Sydney has sold 20,000 as of a few days ago with 20,000 members still to buy. The Sydney State of Origin will sell out well in advance.

Game 1: 52,500
Game 2: 80,000
Game 3: 52,500

Total: 185,000

Go the Blues!
