18 year old Romanian, started the year ranked 106 and it was her goal to reach the top 50 in 2008. Well just yesterday she won the first WTA title of her career and in doing so has moved up to #39 in the world. :thumbsu:

She troubled Ivanovic in the first round of the Australian Open and Kuznestova at the US Open. Consistency is still an issue as she can be either very hot or cold, but that will improve with age. In a few years time she’ll be up there amongst the world’s best IMO. These days you need a weapon to be right up there, and her forehand is massive. She is very heavy hitter, generates a lot of racquet head speed and her serve is improving. With a few more tournaments to be played in 2008, there's a chance she could be seeded come next years AO. So while her name might not mean anything to you lot just now, stay tuned…

out of the Current teenages I would say That Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark is the Best and Will be No.1 in 3 years followed by Agnieszka Radwanska from Poland and Victoria Azeranka from Belarus who are both popential top 5 players! These 3 young ladies I can see winning Grand slams!

I don't think Sorana Cirstea From Romania will be as good as these 3 ladies but should be a top 10 player!

Not a bad call. In fact the WTA tour might be really weak at the top right now but just quietly there is a very strong group of young talent emerging. If you look at the rankings 15-20, some serious young talent right there.

Wozniacki just won another title, has had a pretty stunning year really. 3 titles from memory and now up to #16 in the world. I like her a lot and she has a very solid game, but I think she really lacks a huge weapon. She needs to develop one and if she does then I could see her being the worlds best.

Azarenka, top talent no doubt, but can’t seem to crack any big wins against the top players. Is feeding on the lower ranked opponents, as she should of course, but can’t get any major breakthroughs. Could definitely be top 5 in a few years though.

Radwanska, already top 10, marvelous to watch, can beat just about anyone…except for the real heavy hitters. Needs to prove that she can overcome the power difference and if she can, she could challenge for Slams.

Eastern Europe really has a very strong influence on today's game, and their foundation for the future looks to only continue this, if not improve it (which is a scary thought!).

I don't follow the women's game, so I basically don't know much about it.

What are the reasons for Eastern Europe's dominance in women's tennis?

Tamira Paszek is a quality teen as well - as for our hopes........ maybe Jessica Moore can progress???

Nah, not likely

Paszek is very talented but has had a pretty poor year. Was ranked in the mid 30's last year but is down to 63 now. Lost 6 matches consecutively midway through the year but has found a bit of form lately. Would be good to see her recapture her best form and do some damage at the Australian Open.

Moore is also another very talented youngster and I really like what I see. She needs to get stronger (which has improved significantly over the course of the year) but she is strong off both sides and at 18 has a lot of room for improvement left in her game. :thumbsu:

Shades of hingis in the way radwanska plays, very clever and talented player who wins alot of her matches simply because she wins the battle of minds and outfoxes her opponents.
