Every year without fail....

30 goals from turnovers are whats hurting...... 30 goals in 2 games! that's just ridiculous and NO-ONE from our backline should be copping blame right now, maybe if we could play a game style that suited our skill level......

Truck gets called out evrey year and every year he honks his horn and takes some scalps. He'll be all good.

Truck will be fine.

The only two match ups where playing both Talia and Rutten is a problem, are Fremantle and Port Adelaide.

Even that has more to to do with poor coaching and selection (none of Talia, Shaw or Reilly can stand Westhoff, surely we f****** know this by now).

Rutten is our Joakim Noah; starts slow but is a star and representative team caliber by the time it's the second half of the season.

Love the Truck, great servant of the AFC, but we do have to start getting games into his replacement. Rowie and Bone were going on about Luke Thompson tonight, saying whenever he has played he has done well, and a few other clubs have been sending talent scouts to SANFL games to check him out. I would think Hartigan and/or Thompson should be getting a good few games this year. Not sold on Shaw, made some ordinary decisions again last week.

With the turnover issue, haven't our last 2 weeks been a clear AFL record with 30 goals in 2 games conceded? Unbelievable. Our pressure is piss weak and has been for a fair while now. Clearly poor coaching I would have thought.

This a reasonable point....but we still keep Truck in the side despite knowing the match-ups are wrong. I'd also suggest the Bullies, and a few others have forwards he can't keep up with. The selection should be a horses for courses policy, but it doesn't appear that way possibly due to the fact that no-one is really putting their hands up to replace him. I think LT should be given a go too, as he hasn't been awful - but he really does need to play some blinders in the SANFL to get a gig. The few times I saw Hartigan in the pre-season comp, he was ordinary, so I'm not sure where the love for him is coming from.

are we the only team in the comp that turns the ball over. or are we the only team that seems to allow 90% of turnovers to directly result in a scoring shot. lack of defensive midfield pressure after the turnover is a huge issue, but we should also be expecting our backline to win their share of 50/50 contests. reckon at the moment we're behind on both counts.

Still our best match up for Cloke, J.Brown, even Hawkins IMO- and he's had a good record against Buddy too. Agree it's the turnovers that expose him (and the other defenders).

That said I can still see 2014 being his last season, guess it depends on how quickly/if he gets up to full speed.

Truck usually starts the seasons slowly - don't worry he will come good very soon & be his normal reliable self.

Having said that, we need to be smart resting him during the season if there are no obvious opposition match-ups.

I don't want to bang on forever, but more important than resting Truck is getting more games into Hartigan and even blooding Siggo if his form calls for it.

Truck isn't "done" as a player, but we have to be realistic about the fact that he is absolutely in his twilight years now and we need at least one KPD with more than 10 games under his belt ready to come in!

I love truck but he is slower than the QE2. He also looks beefier than last year. I'd hate to write him off but his game on Saturday was revealing.
He may come good soon but he looks a long way behind his normal.
