Was anyone else at the Mastodon, Gojira, Kvelertak sideshow last night?
It was awesome, but....

Two of my mates swear to me that Joe of Gojira was in the pit with them for Mastodon, and offered them Soundwave tickets.....at first I thought they were kidding, or just extremely drunk...but after an hour of me telling them after the show that they were obviously mistaken they still wouldn't have it. Anyone else see this?

Well???????

Did they take the tickets?

I really want to prove them wrong, or at least be able to tell them that if Joe was in the pit, no one else that was there saw him. It just makes no sense to me why he'd finish up his show, and then put himself in the crowd/pit with a bunch of sweating and over-excited 20'somethings, when he could just stand on the side of the stage and watch from there.

I was at the front of the pit so didn't see anything happening behind me (I couldn't take my eyes off Troy...) but it wouldn't surprise me one bit. They seemed absolutely psyched to be playing with Mastodon.

Both bands were absolutely incredible, really enjoyed it (missed Kvelertak though).

A few unfortunate clashes in Adelaide. Really wanted to check out Raised Fist, but are on at the same time as Machine Head AND SOAD. Also will miss CRO-MAGS/Devin Townsend unless I get bored with Slipknot. Have to chose between The Dillinger Escape Plan and Lamb of God.
Looking forward to Gojira, Heaven Shall Burn, Meshuggah, Paradise Lost, Mastodon, Kvelertak. Will check out Let Live, Staind, Biohazard, Black Dahlia Murder, maybe Chimaira/Times of Grace/CKY. Anyone see Hyro Da Hero? Any good?

Yep they're my clashes too, shame about that. I'm seeing the start of SOAD and then going to Machine Head I'd say, I really want to catch all of their set. And LOG wins over Dillinger! :thumbsu:

What a great lineup, but I have to miss Manson, Limp Bizkit, Bush, BLS, In Flames, Dillinger Escape Plan and Devin Townsend. Can't complain really, always happens but **** it!

I'm very very sceptical that Joe wouldn't just watch from the side of the stage like Kvelertak did.

Have you seen the video of Robb Flynn moshing to Master of Puppets?

They're metalheads too.

Ahh, yeah he's not moshing, and I met Burton from Fear Factory at the back of a Bloodduster show once too, but ....

We're talking about a guy just finishing a gig, and then being in the pit for the next show, trying to crowd surf and getting thrown around in the sweaty throng.

I don't give it much credence. If someone says to me "yes, It was definitely him" then I'd have to believe them.

Like I said, I have no idea if it's true or not, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was.

Anyway, looking forward to Chimaira and Machine Head tonight (will see Times of Grace and Shadows Fall on Friday so not getting there early to see them tonight). Never been in a better mosh than Machine Head in early 2010 at Festival Hall. Although last night may win through sheer location (was directly in front of Troy at the very front all night).

My Soundwave week so far has been awesome. Only been to AvA in Sydney and Enter Shikari in Melbourne, but they were both great.

Anyone questioning if AvA are good live, should just go see them. I was much more impressed than what I was kind of expecting. Tom's performance was quite professional and singing well live. And they have a great young drummer.

As for Enter Shikari... They proved to me tonight of why they are my band to see on the Soundwave line up. Pretty much a flawless show, and their dubstep elements work with what they do so amazingly.

Next up is Devin Townsend at the Forum, AvA again at the Forum, then Melb and Adelaide festivals. Keen. :D

You're a lucky man Ninty!

Alter Bridge tonight, AVA tomorrow and Soundwave on Friday for me. I was hesistant to get AVA tickets because of their average live reputation, but I love their studio work - and your recommendation helps.

Those 3 gigs probably do me for a few months at least ...

Steel Panther getting girls to get their **** out, while your GF is next to you, sucks :p

Alter Bridge were great and most of the crowd knew all the words. Hopefully they can play a bigger - and better - venue next time. Finally hearing 'Blackbird' live made my month.

Devin was insane last night. Both in a literal and musical sense. The fact he loves it as much as the punters gets him extra points.

Meshuggah were slightly disappointing in that they played nothing from DEI, which I was hanging out for. Still one of the tightest sets you'd ever see though. And the sound was fantastic.

A chick got them out at Falls a couple of years ago. My Mrs pointed them out for me! Yep, she's a keeper :thumbsu:

And thanks for the tip for tomorrow!

Luckily she won't be there on Friday so I don't have to keep a straight face :p

One girl was an absolute stunner! :thumbsu: I've never seen so many Whitesnake t-shirts, and it seemed 20% of the crowd left after Panther finished - which I didn't mind at all.

Go and have a look at Cherri Bomb if you can't pick a band to see in the morning. They are a developing young group of girls with some talent. More girls in rock/metal needs to be encouraged.

Biggest surprise was the appearance of Slash during the AlterBridge set. AB would have been 2nd fav of the day after slipknot.

Hope you all enjoy your day as much as I did.

Just caught Cherri Bomb at the Bush concert, i was surprised to be honest, wasn't expecting much from them but not too bad.

Saw AVA and Madina Lake last night (missed Framing Hanley) and had a great time.

Madina Lake were so-so, but I really enjoyed AVA. My two complaints were Tom stopping in the middle of "There Is" to make a stupid joke, and the knobs who wanted to bump into each-other all night.

If you want to do that see Limp or even Slipknot. Just about to leave for SW! :)

Today I saw Unwritten Law, Alter Bridge, A day to remember, Bush, Bad Religion, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, System of a Down. Pretty much hogged the main stages. Bush were fantastic, put on a great set. Limp Bizkit and Slipknot were full of energy. Slipknots tribute to Jessica was really well done. Marilyn was Marilyn, pretty disappointing. System were great.

Really disappointed with the Bad Religion set. Im a massive fan of BR, Greg's vocals were far too soft. BR have great lyrics, so to not be able to hear them was a shame. Also sucked how they had to cancel the set midway due to a beam above the stage coming loose and looking like it would fall onto the stage or crowd. Seen them before so its not the end of the world.

Missed out on seeing Strung Out (seen ages ago but...), Coal Chamber and Machine Head. Such is life.

All round was an awesome day. Weather was good too!
