Yeah maybe, but we are still not the world's best batting outfit.

The Indians seem to have a "mental" problem at the moment rather than a "talent" problem.

They seem to think they just turn up and win. There isn't much "grunt"

You'd back them 9 times out of 10 to beat the Saffers "on paper". Unfortunately the game isn't played on paper.

Problem is SA have really found a good spin combination, albeit one that doesn’t have a lot of longevity ahead of it; it used to be Maharaj or bust, now they have he, Harmer, and a seemingly legit spinning all-rounder in Muthusammy who can counter the Indians to some degree and this habit they’ve found of just ‘managing’ with the bat, to get enough runs to compete, is working a treat.
And when they get back to SA, you know that barring a freak sequence of injuries they are going to have any one of a combination of Rabada, Ngidi, Jansen, Burger, Coetzee, Nortje and Mphaka still developing as well, and Mulder and Bosch are decent enough back-ups on the more helpful surfaces over there.

I can't understand why SA haven't declared by now with the lead over 500 and 4 sessions left, India are no chance of winning.
South African teams historically put way more value on locking in the series win before worrying about the match win.

500 in 4 sessions would be a miracle, but they have the chance to make it literally impossible to lose the series and I kind of admire it.

Ultra conservative declaration. They didnt reallly bat with any urgency in the second dig. they then batted on for 100 runs too many. If they do not bowl India out, they really will blow a massive position of dominance in the game. I just don't understand how they have approached this.

They're going to win the series anyway if it's 1-0.

Might as well completely bat India out of even having the slightest sniff.

I see the SAF coach may have got himself in a little bit of hot water with some interesting comments at the close of play.

Last time the 'grovel' word was mentioned in 1976, the Windies smacked England

Has Nortje been injured for a while?
