Because they wanted to play their domestic T20 comp.
Their domestic T20 comp is being put on pause for this series. It's mid way through the comp.

This series is crucial for South Africa's chances of direct qualification for the World Cup. Lose 3-0 and they're basically confined to the qualifiers. Lose 2-1 and they'll need other results to go their way. Even a 2-1 win and they're still relying on others.

So with that in mind England 3-0 please.

Huge series for South Africa, lose this series and they'll play qualifiers you'd think. I just reckon SAF will come out determined not go thru the qualifiers against an England side missing some names but is still very good.

Alex Hales would have to be good enough to be in that ODI team . He is making runs for fun in T20 league and its not much of an adjustment from T20 to ODI.
I reckon he should be given an opportunity at the top before the WC considering Roy's form

Archers action looks smoother, but he appears to be down on pace. Will be interesting to watch.

Willey is mediocre
