Intersting we have a thread for the farce that is Pakistan and Bangladesh but not one for a genuine contest across the Indian ocean.

On tonight but perhaps not tomorrow when the twenty/20 stuff starts.

SA bowling should see them through and Jayawardine got out while writing this and at 4-91 the Sri Lankans are in a bit of strife. Anyone give them any hope.

Also sad we only got two tests they get the three.

Great dismissal from Dilshan earlier...

He's still their captain yeah? All he does is get himself out to awful Bad Haddin style shots, struggle when leading his side in the field, and whinge to the umpires when his referrals are turned down.

Very very ordinary cricketer.

Cue SriLankanCat to try and tell me how awesome he is, just like he tried in September.

Wtf is Steyn doing!? Bowling at the stumps to a 10 and 11. Much prefer the Siddle way of bowling short and then giving the shit eating grin to show you're the menacing fast bowler.

Pathetic stuff from Sri Lanka's tail. They would be disappointed with those 4 30s.

Philander sure loves a bowler friendly wicket. Go grass!

Sri Lanka in South Africa is always going to be a mismatch. As the CricInfo commentator said, this Centurion pitch has more carry than all the Sri Lankan pitches put together. :D

Not to mention that Sri Lanka has really tailed off as a team in tests since Murali retired, and in ODIs since the World Cup. There are reports that their players haven't been paid, which is an absolute disgrace but I think there are other forces as well in play here that are preventing them from getting back to winning as a team. Their template over the last year has always been - "If Sangakkara fires, we'll scalp away a draw from this one, else it's going to be yet another loss". Sadly even that won't work in South Africa.

The Saffers on the other hand are a weird bunch, having failed to win a home series in over three years when they beat Bangladesh, of all teams. Unless they choke harder than they do, or Sri Lanka do a houdini on them, that record can cease count.

I mean c'mon, how could they not finish Australia after such a demoralising defeat for them at Newlands? Why did they have to let that be 1-1 in the end? Pathetic! Forever the #2 side in the world, the bridesmaids for this very reason.

I am really not sure how SA manages not to win all home series with this bowling attack, really perplexing , perhaps the farce 2 test series that they play with Aus and Ind is the reason.

I laugh at Aussie fans bagging Peter Siddle, when Dilhara Fernando is in our bowling attack.

Then we have a 30 yo 'seamer', who can't hit 130kph, and bowls whole overs where you worry that he might not get it on the cut stuff.

It's usually their batting that lets them down when they get done at home.

Always love watching Test matches from South Africa. The pitches are just brilliant for competitive cricket and it's great they haven't been pressured by the ICC or anyone to produce roads.

Watching Steyn and Philander operate last night was brilliant. Steyn's last two balls/wickets, excellent bowling to the tail. Hopefully Tahir gets a nice, long bowl in the second dig. His first-class record is exceptional, can't wait to see him fire in a Test.

Geez Dilshan loves throwing himself the ball. I suppose he thinks he needs to because Herath is less threatening than Paul Harris. Herath does seem to have one that goes the other way - but rarely bowls it and is a mega-chuck.

Hopefully Prince can make some runs here. Me musn't be too far away from being dropped, which would be a shame considering the amazing run of form he had a few years ago before they pushed him up to opening and his form went right downhill.

A lead of 100 will be enough to wrap this up tomorrow.
