I think this was the right move to make. AJ to full back, even tho he has been hit and miss there in the past, means Cody gets to play 5/8.

Also on side with Cook getting the starting nod over Farah.

Blows my mind how Musgrove isn't in the 17 yet Dave Tyrell is. Hopefully that changes by kick off.

Rabbitohs And Michael Maguire Agree To Part Company

Tue 5th September, 06:37PM

The South Sydney Rabbitohs and Michael Maguire have agreed today to part company effective immediately.

Following a Board meeting today, the Club met with Michael and it was agreed that it was in the best interests of all parties that Michael’s contract as Head Coach come to an end.

Rabbitohs General Manager of Football, Shane Richardson, said: “Michael helped deliver the premiership title in 2014 and for this we will always be indebted to him. He led us to the premiership victory, the 2015 Auckland Nines win and the 2015 World Club Challenge.

“However, we feel it’s time for the Club to go along a different path in terms of the leadership of the team and the direction the team is taking, and they are the responsibilities of the Head Coach.

Ordinary finish to an ordinary year

Rabbitohs appoint Anthony Seibold as Head Coach

Thu 7th September, 10:15AM

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are delighted to today announce that Anthony Seibold will be the Club’s Head Coach for the next two seasons.

Coach Seibold has been promoted from Assistant Coach with the Rabbitohs in 2017 to take on the first NRL Head Coaching appointment of his career.

Anthony has completed a strong apprenticeship, building a wealth of coaching experience and knowledge as both a Head Coach and Assistant Coach at State, NRL and Representative levels.

In addition to his Assistant Coach role at the Rabbitohs in 2017, Anthony has been the Assistant Coach for the Queensland State of Origin team for the past two seasons, as well as stints as an Assistant Coach with the Melbourne Storm, Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, Junior Kangaroos and clubs in the UK Super League.

Great coach, don't know what went wrong the last 2 years at Souths but don't think he is entirely to blame.

Yeh i thought he might of got another year. Get GI back, Gagai comes in, get a full pre season in. Apart from the flogging by Melbourne their end to the season was pretty good.

Jason Clark signed up to Super League next year.

It is believed it was indicated to him that he os no longer needed at the club. So decided to move to the UK rather then take a chance at another NRL club as he can't bring himself to play against the club he loves.

GI has resigned effective immediately, and as such relinquished 1.5m (over 2 years) of his playing salary, however he has signed on to be Development coach, Indigenous player mentor and Ambassador for Souths Cares for 300k a year.

My understanding is that this leaves a 1.5m hole in our salary cap, we can use as we see fit asap. Whilst I'd prefer to have Greg out there, thats not bad business that. :thumbsu:
