Never took it that you were. Was just giving a bit of background for those readers who might not be up with what is going on!

Its a slow process getting the SFL Colts up and running and reaching a quality level that we would all like it to be at. The more $ ruins local footy and clubs find it harder to make their money to pay players, the more they will see that Colts is the way to go.

Not a fan Super, if you are not good enough to win the flag (east brighton) then you should not be rewarded for it.

Gee for someone that lost the impossible you sure do dribble a lot.
If the doggies are near full strength they will beat you again by about 6 goals.:D

FYI trueblood is that peanut koach from stkilda city
He is definitely not from EB. Fwiw homer I thought if Clayton had not missed a couple of shots in the 3rd qrt they would of gone in a 3q time with a big show of knocking us off.

ch v highett - ch by 17 goals with trav johnston to have 45 touches
ding v city - city by 2 goals or less sawers made an impact last week can he again
stp v eb - eb by 3 goals battle of the fowards best v francis
chelt v mordi - chelt by 12 goals i see in record the butcher was best on according to the radio i will see first hand this week if his kicking has improved
clay v heath - clays by 12 goals - looking forward to seeing a mcgee blow up i have heard they are impressive!

The Rider is here for his round 2 tips.

Vampires to beat the doggies 4 goals. Think EB have improved their list and will win comfortably. All of East Brighton's 10 supporters will be celebrating come 5pm tomorrow.

The Village over the Saints by 3 goals. The dingoes to announce their arrival as a serious contender in the SFL this season. Sawers could be recruit of the season.

Rosellas comfortably over the Mordi superrules by 12 goals. More interested in what food they will be serving at the anzac luncheon.

Trailer Park to knock off Highett 20 goals. A six-piece brass band and a fireworks display has been ordered for the return of Trav Johnstone. Heard Irish may even be singing the national anthem. Will be a big day down at the heights.

The Clays over the tunners by 6 goals. Sunday game. Supporters who wear their favourite moccasins to receive half price entry. Did McGee fire up at all last week?

Tip of the day
Syd Race 7 Number 6 Sincero

Good luck to all teams

Jesus there is alot of Sawers love here.......

The kid would have had to improved a hell of alot since his days at St Bedes....... he was hard at the footy and a handy player, fringe 1sts, but there was daylight between the likes of Anstey, Scafidi and Mouritz to Aaron.... even Mad Dog Maddocks now at City was well ahead in the pecking order back then...

Recruit of the year? I highly doubt it, as those 4 already mentioned remain better players, let alone some of the other pickups accross the league.

With Poyas being in certainly makes a massive difference to the outcome of the game. I notice on the league's website that he hasn't been named on the City team list....not that that means much at all! Might have to lean to City just....but would be great for the league if Dingley got up, could we see a changing of the guard?
My round 2 tips:
Chelsea Heights
St Kilda City
East Brighton
Cheltenham
Clayton

Tips

St. Paul's by 1 goal
Chelsea heights by 15 goals
Dingley by 2 points
Clayton by 3 goals
Chelt by 4 goals

Good luck to all.

The SFL have altered the promotion/relegation format to now make it 2 up / 2 down. IMO it's a great move that is 5 years overdue. Thoughts?

Must beg to differ freak. I'm surprised it got through as the clubs had knocked back a couple of times in the past. There is one director that wouldn't let it go. I'm against it on three fronts:

  • Its crap being the runner up.One of the big things that brings players back is that they think they are close to a premiership. Not sure they have the same enthusiasm to go up and get flogged. This is particuarly the case if you get beaten badly.
  • The recent history of promoted clubs would suggest that the sides that they beat would not strengthen the division above. In particular, the promotion to div one is proving huge. Imagine if Sth Yarra had beaten the Tunners a couple of years back.
The basis for this idea came from the Ammos- to give clubs a better opportunity to progress through the grades. I'm not sure the overall depth and size of the SFL warrant this. A third division club is only two good seasons from first division. Thats quick enough.

Anyway, its done so lets make the best of it.

No it is not done yet, as this is a big step back for the league, and I'm sure they will lose more clubs than they would gain (So they might only have 10 teams left)
VAFA do it, but they have (the old boys network ) to get there players from and PLUS THEY DON'T PAY there players (LOL)

If we did this, then we might as well just join up with the VAFA

Meetings will be called in the next week to stop this happening and the 30 CLUBS in the SFL will have there say, as this has to go to a vote

Good win by the Clays today should have won by a lot more but relaxed to much.
Only thing that spoiled the game was a late hit on our bloke with 5 minutes to go who is now in hospital waiting for surgery.

Thanks big G.....so far my Div 1 tipping this year is 10 tips correct /10 games played.....so not too bad! Would've gone for Dingley until I got the late mail on Poyas playing for City. As it proved he was probably the difference with 3 goals and a best on ground performance. Does anyone know if his staying on for the rest of the season?
On this weeks games: Cheltenham proved that there going to be a tough ask to beat and will push for finals, Dingley and City are evenly matched and St Pauls and East Brighton match was a cracker.....tight, no easy possessions, fast and highly skilled. Can see these two teams going deep into the season.

Yes I would have went for city as well if I knew they had Poyas and Quinn back
I have heard Poyas was only back for the one game

So this weeks tips
2:00 PM
Sat 28/Apr
Chelsea Heights x10pts vs Cheltenham Beazley Reserve Big test, to see how good Chelt are
East Brighton x 15 G vs Mordialloc Hurlingham Reserve Vampires easy
St Kilda City x 2G vs Clayton Peanut Farm Reserve Will Bruno play this week and Poyas out
Heatherton vs St Pauls x 8GRoss Street Reserve
2:30 PM
Highett vs Dingley x 6G Turner Road Reserve

Not sure how more games Quinn and Poyas will play. The umpire was telling a story after the game that he heard an argument between Poyas and someone from the City Committee. Apparently Poyas was less than happy at being given $500 with the promise of the rest to come in the next few weeks. Poyas was heard saying "I'm sick of this sh*t, i'm not playing again unless i'm being paid upfront". He was after 1K per game. Also a good source from City revealed Quinn was refusing to walk out onto the field until he received money owed from last year and the payment for Saturday's game. Having said that good luck to City. Poyas was the difference by a mile. 40 odd touches, 3 goals and many assists. One of the rare guns that probably would go close to earning that money.

How lucky are the Dingoes, these 2 guys turn up and they were the difference. Poyas was in everything and is all class and Quinn was very good as well. Number 44 was in everything and ran the ball out of defence too many times, Number 5 was dangerous all day. City's size all around the ground stretched us.
Having said that, The Dingoes kept coming. The boys had a real crack but just could not finish off their good work with some cheap goals. We had to bust a gut to kick a goal, due to City's well drilled defence and their pressure around the ball.
The best team won no doubt, but we are not too far away from being Top 5.

The only easy possessions for anyone was one of the many silly freekicks the umpires were handing out both ways!!!! Was pretty disappointed in the standard especially for match of the round.

No doubt many more good games to come between us and East Brighton.

Yeh it was a very close game and both sides will get better from it
As you said many silly freekicks didn't help the standard of the game.
I'm looking forward to the return match at Hurlingham Park July 1st with the Lunch starting at 12pm (great to see St.Pauls have already booked a table of 10)

A few to come back for the return match also.

Missing for us was Mercoulia, Barnes, Wilson, Best, Lewington.
