The last finals match Brighton played in was in the 2015 Elimination Final played at Huonville on 5th September 2015, under Jamie Ling.I believe (correct me if I’m wrong) that the last time the senior team made the finals was in 2011 maybe 2012?? They played Kingbourough at the newly created Twin Ovals, when Bucket Atkin or Dan Willing was coach and they had a really good list, one of my close contacts out there told me at the end of 2012 there was a mass exodus with a lot of senior players leaving, which ultimately left the twos players who weren’t getting a game in the ones, having to step up and play senior footy in which was a bit out of their depth and the results have shown for a decade…
They were heading in the right direction under the Bucket, Maynard and Willing days
The Robins suffered three heavy defeats in a row and their finals hopes came down to the final seconds of the roster season after being soundly beaten by 79 points by Claremont at Pontville, they needed seventh-placed Hobart to hold out an also ailing East Coast Bombers in the rain and wind at Lauderdale to stay in the five, which eventually Hobart did by 3 points, 6.5 (41) to East Coast Bonbers 4.14 (38).
That was ultimately the final football match the East Coast Bombers would play as Triabunna pulled out of the partnership with Lauderdale in the off season to head back to the ODFA in their own right.
