Freezing, wet ol' day today. Stayed in by the fire and watched a bit of the live stream of the Pies and Launceston game on facebook in between the Bluebaggers and Swantits.
Saw Lindisfarne got rolled by the Mont boys at Abbotsfield. Huge turnup after last week!
The Farne not hungry enough, thought breaking the drought last year was good enough and don't look as interested in winning more.
Claremont's been either great or terrible, no in between this year. That kept them in touch with the finals anyway.
Dodges beat Hobart in the sand easily to stay undefeated on top, was close to 70 points. Hobart can't kick a winning score of any sort. Won't win a game this year. Shithouse.
Dodges doing what they have to to win each week, been a solid season from them so far without being sprctacular.

Either N.Norfolk have a boatload of injuries or they put on a performance as poor as their bad old days in the statewide league.
They got a smashing by Huonville at the Valley of Love by 15 goals.
Would have to be the biggest belting they've got up there for about 20 years.
Had them as my smoky to win it this year but on that effort the race is wide open.
Sounds like the Lions are building again under Lamprill.
Dodges undefeated still, flogged Sorell at Sorell by 80 something points.
My spies tell me there's a bit of anymosity between the Sharks and Sorell as the council down there plan to spend millions on turning Pembroke Park into a sporting hub for the area while not tipping a cent into Shark Park at all. Like putting lipstick on a pig in Pembroke's case.

Crowd of more than 2,000 piled into Cygnet where Barry Hall lined up in a special appearance for Cygnet.
Hall booted 6 to half time in close game, but was held to one in the second half.
Lindisfarne held a 29 point lead at the final change but the Port came back strongly, the Two Blues secured a late winner to take a 10 point victory.
Dodges Ferry held sway all day but couldn't quite shake a persistent New Norfolk off at Shark Park.

A much improved performance this week by the Eagles after last week's dismal display.

Big Barry Hall strapped on the boots for Cygnet again yesterday in their home match against Sorell, fresh off a 101 point belting of Hobart at the TCA Ground last week. Hall booted four in Cygnet's 83 point win in atrocious conditions to ensure they'll play in the finals.
Lindisfarne belted winless Hobart by 128 points at Anzac Park, consigning Hobart to the wooden spoon and a winless season, their second such season in seven years. The Tigers have lost fifteen matches in a row.

In today's finals matches it was Cygnet and Huonville Lions taking their respective matches.
In the Elimination Final at Cygnet, a tight match throughout in front of a good crowd.
Cygnet booted the first three of the match to bolt out if the gate but New Norfolk hit back to make it a great contest with only a point in it at the final change.
The Port snuck away to a handy break in the final term and held sway by 14 points with Barry Hall booting 8 for Cygnet whilst Marcus Parker responded with 8 for the Eagles.
At Lindisfarne it was shades of a final played between the same two sides a few years ago at Anzac Park when Lindisfarne appeared to be in control against the rampaging Huonville Lions when they took a 23 point lead into the final change.
In the final quarter the Lions ran rampant and got back to draw the game at 13.10 (88) each.
In overtime, it was all the Lions as they rammed on another three to run 21 point winners to book a spot in the First Semi Final next week against Huon Valley rival, Cygnet.
Dodges Ferry will host Lindisfarne in the Second Semi Final.

Meanwhile Sorell ran out easy 46 point winners over New Norfolk at Anzac Park, 13.13 (91) to 7.3 (45) in the Elimination Final.

The Second Semi Final featured minor premier Dodges Ferry taking on the Huonville Lions at Shark Park.
The home side got out a lead of close to five goals in the early part of the third term before the Lions went beserk and kicked 11 goals for the quarter to open up a 27-point gap at the final change before going on to record a terrific 16-point win on the road to book a spot in the Grand Final for the second consecutive year.
Timmy Lamprill booted five for the Lions while Ed Stanley and Jack Wilson both booted three each for the Sharks.
In the First Semi Final, reigning premier Lindisfarne were at home to Cygnet at Anzac Park.
Controversial marquee signing, Barry Hall didn't take his place in the starting line up citing soreness but was hoping to make it back for the following week should Cygnet make it through.
Unfortunately for the Port, they were on the end of the greatest defeat ever recorded in an SFL finals match in the 23 year history of the competition, going down by a staggering 146 points.
Former Hobart and Lauderdale TSL player Michael Cassidy went on the rampage booting ten goals for the Two Blues before being rested at three quarter time. Ben Halton booted two for Cygnet.
Next week in the Preliminary Final, Lindisfarne will face Dodges Ferry at North Hobart. The winner to meet Huonville Lions the following week in the Grand Final.

Howard played TFL Statewide League football with North Hobart and is the record goalkicker for the original statewide competition (1986-2000) with 526 goals.

Heard New Norfolk have been kicked out of their own clubrooms at Boyer.
New leasee signed a ten year lease on the building and has changed the name and told the club he wants them and their memorabilia out.

The SFL Preliminary Final at a rainy, dark and cold North Hobart saw reigning premier Lindisfarne prevail over minor premier Dodges Ferry by 14 points, sending the Sharks out in straight sets in the process.
The Two Blues tore the game open in the first half to open up a five goal lead before the Sharks made a comeback in the third quarter to reduce the deficit to under three goals and looking to have the momentum only to let Lindisfarne in with a couple of soft late goals to go in four goals up at the final change.
An early goal to the Two Blues in the final quarter pretty much iced the game, Dodges Ferry kept fighting it out as the rain got heavier but could never bridge the gap as they missed a few good chances.
Shawn Clark and Michael Cassidy booted three for the Two Blues while Campbell Hooker finished with four for the Sharks.
Next week Lindisfarne will face Huonville Lions in the Grand Final for the second consecutive year.
In the Reserves, Huonville Lions held out a fast finishing Dodges Ferry in the heavy rain to win by 12 points despite not scoring in the final quarter.
The Lions booting the first six goals of the game being the deciding factor.

One story I did hear today was that there was apparently a meeting to discuss a possible amalgamation of the SFL and the Old Scholars a few weeks ago but the Old Scholars were completely disinterested in being involved with the SFL at all.
Crowds are still a concern, weather aside, that was an absolutely abysmal attendance for today's matches.

One story I did hear today was that there was apparently a meeting to discuss a possible amalgamation of the SFL and the Old Scholars a few weeks ago but the Old Scholars were completely disinterested in being involved with the SFL at all.
Crowds are still a concern, weather aside, that was an absolutely abysmal attendance for today's matches.
Would've been no more than 600 people at the matches.
I heard that the SFL had an awards night and a mate in the Brighton football club told me that Dylan Ford won the coach of the year award and reserves Medal
No idea who they've got. All I know is they've met with a few candidates and are apparently announcing it at the B&F in early October and introducing the new coach on the night.
Not sure about Will Perry, hasn't been near the place since coaching the Colts to the flag in 2017.
Left to go to Lauderdale but not sure what he's up to now.
Will take a 300% change in attitude to start moving up the ladder, the committment isn't what it should be and coaches keep copping the brunt of it from what I've seen. Way too much selfishness.
This is probably the most critical time in the club's history because if they don't start to show a huge improvement, and don't start winning games then the club will be in very serious jeopardy IMO.
There's no supporters around the club anymore, ex-players don't get involved at all, volunteers are becoming painfully thin in number, membership is paltry and crowds are pitiful. All adds up to continuous losses which can't be sustained in the longrun.
Saturday's Grand Final saw Lindisfarne rocket away from Huonville Lions to take the premiership by 65 points at North Hobart in a lacklustre game full of skill errors for the most part.
The Lions booted the first three behinds of the game until Lindisfarne broke the stalemate about 15 minutes into the quarter and proceeded to boot three more after that to lead by 23 points at the first break.
Huonville started to put some better passages together and booted three for the quarter but the Two Blues were cleaner with the ball, booting another three themselves, they led by 25 points at half time.
The Lions trailed by around six goals in the middle of the third quarter before they started to get a motor on and reduce the margin to 14 points, but for deplorable finishing in front of goal, Huonville would've likely hit the front.
Two abysmal efforts in front of goal from playing coach Lamprill cost them a chance at drawing almost level late in the quarter.
The final quarter was all Lindisfarne as they blew the Lions away with eight unanswered goals to run out winners, 17.14 (116) to 7.9 (51) to take back-to-back premierships after so many years of heartbreak.
Lindisfarne's Brad Tennick took out the Gorringe-Martyn Medal for best player on the ground.
In the Reserves it was Huonville Lions outlasting Lindisfarne by 11 points to take the flag, 7.4 (46) to 4.11 (35).
The Two Blues were aiming at their third consecutive reserves flag but blew their chances with poor conversion in the third quarter.
The Colts saw Lindisfarne hold Southern Storm out to run out 10 point winners to take back-to-back premierships, winning 7.8 (50) to 6.4 (40).
Lindisfarne led by 23 points at the final break as the Storm posted 2.1 to nil in the final quarter but it was not enough.
For the Storm (Cygnet-Kermandie) it was their third consecutive grand final loss.
Meanwhile in the Womens, Brighton - who had recruited very heavily during the off season - belted Lindisfarne by 63 points to their first womens flag, 12.10 (82) to 3.1 (19).
Crowd posted at 4,126 for the day, didn't look to be that many given that half the hill at North Hobart was sectioned off as a construction site, the stands not all that populated and nor were the tiered seating.
Many might have come and gone I guess.

Yes he did. There was also a huge blunder involving the Lipscombe Medal in the Colts.
Zac Bird from Sorell was awarded the medal but the umpires made a mistake in the opening round match at Pembroke Park when Hobart's Brock Daniels polled, but his name wasn't read out at the count.
Hobart Football Club raised the matter on the night and it was dicovered that the umpires had written down the name of a player in the Hobart reserves team that wore the same number as Daniels.
As a result, the error was discovered and Daniels was later awarded the Lipscombe Medal (along with Bird) at the grand final. So Bird and Daniels were co-winners.
You'd have to wonder whether there's been other mistakes throughout the counts given this huge stuffup. Certainly calls everything into question now.
Madeline Ogilvie has been very active in social media of late since backdooring her way into Parliament telling everyone how she's the president of the Southern Football League and going at great pains to express the fact that she's the first ever female president of the league!
Talk about narcissistic! Photo bombing every photo of winning teams and players, it's an embarassment.
Also her claim that playing grand finals back at North Hobart has been a success for the league doesn't stack up.
Crowds have been well down at grand finals since moving back there from KGV.
Huge drop in crowds on the big day since the league devolved into a two/three horse race every single year. It's starting to resemble what happened with the old TFL Statewide League in the 1990s, and crowds lost interest there and dropped away too.
The league copped huge criticism for not live streaming the grand final on the day, deciding to put it online later because they were supposedly struggling for funds and wanted to maximise the crowd attendance. This flies in the face of other statements they've made that they were supposedly doing quite well financially (not sure how).
This league needs a massive, massive overhaul ASAP.

And that *ing Ogilvie, I was having a beer with Mick Newell from 7HO a couple of weeks ago, he was telling me she came in to do an interview for the finals and they had to get someone to go check the paper for who was playing because she had no idea who was in the finals. And this dumbo is president!!
Then preceded to drone on about herself being a female president the whole time - his words - I never heard the show. Reckoned she was up herself and a out of her depth. She's a big part of the problem why the SFL is on the drop. Thought she'd quit now she's in the crook house but obviously not.
Grand final was rubbish standard, Lions were terrible and shouldda got flogged by over a hundred and probably would of if the Farne were playing better footy.
So who's the monty for the Hobart job KP? Any big tips? I reckon they need a playing coach that can drag a few along with him.

I was very disappointed that they didn't show the Brighton Womens vs Lindersfarne Grand final as I am a huge supporter towards the SFLW league. Also the Colts is already stuffed as it is. No Brighton, No Claremont, Soon to be No Sorell due to Sorrel having no juniors in the Stjfl system and No New Norfolk because of the lack of 18s/17s

I heard a rumour in the pub about a week ago about Bryce Walsh got approached but surely he'd stay at the Bomberland to try and get a premiership woyldn't he? His father was a premiership player at the TCA wasn't he?
Jamie Di Ienno played at both clubs but hasn't coached at all.
Heard Matthew Smith chucked his hat in the ring too.
Doubt they'd go with Smith after what happened at Brighton with all the players walking out.
Brighton been signing up players everywhere, about 12 so far. A few from Glenorchy apparently, now big Byron's coaching again. Good move by them to stabilise the club
Not sure about Bryce Walsh being approached, may have been but haven't heard anything.
I doubt he'd want to drop back to SFL level anyway given he's still playing well at senior level in state league football and probably has unfinished business with Lauderdale given they've lost the last three TSL Grand Finals.
Bryce has never had any involvement with Hobart previously, although his dad Brendan was in our 1990 premiership team.
Jake Gillbee is at Lauderdale too, his dad Steve played in two flags at Hobart in 1990 and 1999, coached Hobart from 1999-2002 but Jake's never played football at Hobart.
Only other one I could think of, as you mentioned, is Jamie DiIenno. But I don't think he's playing seniors any longer. Was in the Development League this year.
I've not heard a peep about who they've signed up to coach, all I know is it's being announced at the Best & Fairest Count on Saturday night.
Be interesting to see who it is. Still reckon we need a playing coach that can bring some good players with him and lead on field but they're hard to find.
Last time Hobart won a flag with a non-playing coach was 1980 under Paul Sproule.
I'm wondering if Sam Reeves will stay with Glenorchy or come back to Hobart, I do know he wants to come back at some point but maybe not yet, Hobart needs someone with his presence up forward, this year Hobart was absolutely atrocious up forward and couldn't score goals.
Highest total for the whole season was a paltry 11.10 (76) with a miserable 100.138 (738) for their 14 games at an average of 52 points per game.
Won't win many games with that attack (they won none).

Saw Van Kraanen signed as coach of North Hobart development league side. I thought he was a massive chance for the Hobart job.
