It was a very over-umpired game all day to be fair.
Even the two central umpires couldn't agree and kept over turning each other's decisions.
Glad I had to piss off before the main game then. Not sure I could have listened to anymore moaning from all the oldies in the grandstand regarding umpiring.

In news just to hand - "Shock As Crowd Makes Noise At Football Game"... 😯

herd some of these said individuals have been asked to adjust their behavior ... also the umpire escort from the weekends game has been told leave following their conduct / behavior??

The final round of the competition at senior level was run yesterday and with Huonville Lions having the bye, they'd already secured the minor premiership.
At Cygnet it was the Port up against Hobart with the home side needing a win to go second whilst the Tigers could've gotten up to third if they won.
After a tight first half in an ill-tempered clash, Cygnet ran away with nine unanswered goals in the third term (and twelve consecutive goals from late in the second quarter until the early stages of the final quarter) to trounce a disappointing Hobart by 82 points.
Josh Fox booted eight majors for Cygnet while Alex Gilmour finished with three for the Tigers.
Cygnet earning second spot on the ladder and a home Qualifying Final against New Norfolk next week.
Hobart fell to fifth place and must travel to Anzac Park to face back-to-back reigning premiers Lindisfarne in the Elimination Final.
Lindisfarne, despite inaccurate kicking, disposed of Dodges Ferry by 30 points at Anzac Park to climb to fourth spot.
After a close first half the Two Blues piled on 4.13 to 0.4 in third quarter to break the game open and take a 41-point lead into the final change.
The Sharks outscoring the Two Blues in the final quarter to finish their season in sixth place.
Sam Adams finished with three for Lindisfarne while Campbell Hooker booted three goals for Dodges Ferry.
At Pembroke Park, New Norfolk escaped with a 7-point win over Sorell to finish in third spot in a battle of the Eagles.
New Norfolk bounded out of the blocks to lead by 36 points at the first break before the second last placed home side shocked the visitors with a 7.4 to Nil second quarter.
In the third quarter New Norfolk wrestled back the lead to go into the final change thirteen points ahead, ultimately holding out Sorell in a cliff hanger.
Marcus Parker finishing with four for New Norfolk while Billy Pace booted three for Sorell.
In the Duff TV game at Abbotsfield Park, Claremont and Brighton played for pride knowing the finals was out of reach.
Byron Howard's Robins looking to win their third game for the season after being in recess at senior level last season whilst the proud Claremont club were looking to win their first match of the season and send outgoing coach Luke Potter off in style.
In the first half it was all Claremont as they dominated much of the game and at one stage led by more than four goals.
The third quarter saw Brighton draw closer but unable to bridge the gap which was at three goals to Claremont's favour at the final change.
In the final quarter it was all the Robins, kicking to the clubrooms end booting 6.4 to 1.0 to run all over the hapless Magpies to register a 16-point win to finish their season in seventh place, while for Claremont, the Magpies ended the season winless for the first time in decades.
Alex Blair finished with five for Brighton while outgoing Claremont playing coach, Luke Potter booted six for the Magpies.

Next week the senior finals series gets underway with the Elimination Final taking place at Anzac Park between Lindisfarne and Hobart, whilst at Cygnet, Cygnet takes on New Norfolk in the Qualifying Final, the winner of that match faces Huonville Lions the following week.

Hobart too small, won't be up with the top 3 sides until they recruits some talls.
Bigger sides cut them to pieces. They aren't far off though.
Wonder if the two weeks off will unsettle Huonville. Cygnet should win easy over Norfik. Wouldn't write off the Farne either.
Kingpin what's Hobart's record like over at Lindisfarne?

Heard talk Jaye Bowden could be headed to either Claremont or SVC next year to coach.
Whispers about that a few SFL clubs have been naughty with the liquor licencing and not strict with policing it at their grounds and could be up for a few fines during the finals when the inspectors turn up.

Womens comp needs to be looked at.
Too many sides not scoring a single point, two teams not even turning up and they still want more teams?
Time they fixed the colts up and sent the womens football packing off to start their own league.

Way to many female sides. Every club wants one but is just wrong for the development of the game. I know of some ladies who haven’t trained once yet get a game every week. You can’t expect to improve like that.
The SFL won’t do anything though, as women’s footy has been a great money and funding spinner. Should have to have a mandatory number of players in your squad before you can field a team.

Plans are in place I believe with regard to recruiting a few taller players, yes.
Sammy Reeves is also believed to be headed back to Hobart next season from Glenorchy, that I do know.
Hobart last won at Anzac Park in 2001 under "Plover" Gillbee, Tiges have a very ordinary record over there since coming back into the SFL in 2014, but finals footy, anything can happen.
With the SFLW, it seems that it grew too quickly without a lot of planning or foresight.
There was a rumour getting around about five weeks ago that they were looking at splitting it up into two conferences because at least one, possibly two more sides from the Old Scholars FA were wanting to put teams in.
Trouble is, at the moment you have North Hobart playing in SFLW because they reckon they aren't good enough for the TSLW, Uni from the OSFA because they don't have a women's league and Kingborough fielding a side in both the TSLW and the SFLW.
Kingborough's SFLW team forfeited on Sunday and New Norfolk forfeited at least three games and permanently went into recess a few weeks back so question marks remain as to what should happen with it.
There's no club loyalty at all for the most part with masses of players swapping teams every season and continuously lopsided results. Brighton had more than half of the Clarence TSLW side from the previous season aid them into winning SFLW last season, Claremont picked up a large number this season and should win it.
Personally I would seperate it from the SFL and call it the Southern Tasmanian Womens Football League and not place the onus on the clubs which are generally ill resourced to have to run a side.
I would have it seperate, with their own management committee, own rules in place, own sponsorship and own fixtures. I would think that would work far better and they can recruit young girls coming through the STJFL girls system, which is quite strong.
This could underpin the TSLW as a second division competition if you like.
To me, it was pushed by the likes of Madeline Ogilvie to be seen as woke and to be seen to be doing things as a lazy way of getting people involved in the main clubs. Our Colts competition is a big worry when it comes to the future.

This is the first week of finals, the Womens and Colts competitions have one more round to play.

I did some checking on that, and no.
It was actually a trainer that used to be involved with Cygnet that has been at Hobart on and off for the past couple of years because his partner is involved with the Hobart women's team, that allegedly had some sort of altercation with someone during one of the matches at the TCA a couple of weeks ago and was asked by the club to leave permanently, so I'm told, after complaints by some members of the womens team.
Speaking of crowd behaviour, you would've needed socks in the ears at Cygnet on Saturday.
Not sure sectioning off half the stand as the Wet Area and having drunks wandering around the rest of the ground is probably the best thing.

A wet day for the second weekend of finals action in the SFL with Cygnet coming from 35 points down against the highly fancied Huonville Lions to upset the home side before a good crowd in the Second Semi Final.
The Port hitting the front very late in a long last quarter and managing to hang on to inflict the Lions only loss at home at all season in an enthralling contest.
Jayden Appleby, Luke Paton and Braden Livingston all booted three for the Port while the Lions had ten individual goalkickers with Dale Thorp, Ethan Brock and Liam Ward all finishing with two.
Cygnet go into their first Grand Final in fifteen years.
In yesterday's other match, the First Semi Final was at Boyer where Lindisfarne, after a slow start eventually drew away after half time and exploded with an eight goal final term to defeat a disappointing New Norfolk by 56 points to send the Eagles out in straight sets.
Sam Adams booted four for the Two Blues whilst Tyron Rainbird finished with two for New Norfolk.
The back-to-back reigning premier appear to be hitting form at the right end of the season after a slow start, setting up a mouth-watering encounter with the Huonville Lions at North Hobart next Saturday.
The two sides have had many memorable finals matches against one another over the past twelve years and have met in three grand finals over that duration, including the past two years which have gone the Two Blues way both times.

Next week's SFL Grand Final will see a battle of the Huon Valley as the Huonville Lions overcame a gallant back-to-back reigning premier, Lindisfarne, to go into the big one with a 19-point win in the Preliminary Final at a soggy Huonville yesterday.
After more than a week of rain the ground was flooded by 4pm on Friday and had to be pumped out by the Huonville and Franklin fire brigades that afternoon, an early morning inspection was carried out and the ground passed inspection.
After a fast start by the Lions, Lindisfarne skipped away to a handy lead by quarter time.
Huonville got on top with a five goal to one second quarter to take in a 12-point lead at the long break, as expected, the Two Blues hit back in the third quarter kicking up to the scoreboard end and held a narrow lead of three points at the final change.
The final term saw the Lions again take charge of the contest booting 4.5 to 1.1 to record a 12.13 (85) to 9.12 (66) win over the Two Blues, who had beaten them in so many important finals over the past 15 years.
Michael Paul was outstanding for the Lions booting six goals and stamping his authority on the game with his strong marking, Ethan Brock continued his great form with three whilst for Lindisfarne, playing coach Michael Cassidy booted three goals.
Huonville Lions will meet Cygnet at North Hobart Oval next Saturday in what promises to be a spicy contest, albeit with a reduced crowd attendance due to Covid-19 restrictions still in place.
There's also been quite a deal of animosity between Cygnet and Huonville after the Lions laid a compaint to the SFL late last week over Cygnet's Thor Boscott's tackle against a Huonville Lions player in the Second Semi Final, alleging rough conduct.
The meeting to take place sometime early this week to discuss the matter and whether a suspension should apply. Suffices to say it hasn't gone done well in the Huon Valley.

In the Reserves, Huonville Lions came from behind to defeat Lindisfarne by 10 points, 5.11 (41) to 4.7 (31) at Anzac Park to book a spot with Dodges Ferry next Saturday.
The Colts saw two Preliminary Finals yesterday, Lindisfarne recorded a 53-point victory over the Huonville Lions, 10.13 (73) to 3.2 (20) at Huonville to go into the big dance up against the all-conquering Southern Storm who blew New Norfolk to pieces at Cygnet to register a 108-point triumph, 22.8 (140) to 5.2 (32), the Storm in their fourth consecutive Grand Final.
In the Womens competition, Claremont will take Huonville Lions under lights on Friday night at 7pm at North Hobart Oval in the Grand Final.
Claremont accounted for the South East Suns by 37 points at a very wet Abbotsfield Park on Friday night, 8.4 (52) to 2.3 (15) while the Huonville Lions upset the Lady Blues by 11 points, 5.2 (32) to 2.9 (21) at Anzac Park yesterday morning.

The League's medal count took place via live-stream last night, no formal event was held this year due to ongoing Covid regulations.

Hypothetically, had Huonville Oval been declared unfit for play, what would have happened? The higher ranked teams proceeding?

interesting that the women’s competition points don’t count towards the Bibby Shield given most clubs have a women’s side.

I'm not too sure Barge. May have shifted it to Cygnet as there was a Colts match there that morning.
I think that ground was pretty waterlogged as well but still playable.
Pity the flooding at Huonville didn't knock down those hopeless, wonky looking Chupa Chup sticks that masquerade as goalposts!
Yes definitely re: Bibby Shield, more clubs have womens sides than Colts these days.
Only clubs not to would be Sorell, Dodges Ferry and New Norfolk's folded after about five games.
Not sure what the deal is with them whether they'll get back on the ground again, by all reports they've got a fair few young girls wanting to play with them but the club doesn't seem to embrace them much at all. Still reckon it should be run as a separate comp to the SFL.

Heard a whisper that Gutwein was blaming the NH footy club in parliament today for not allowing the grand final to have more than 1k because they broke social distancing rules at that game they had against NL a month or so back when they were allowed to have 1250.
Sounds like a flimsy excuse to me, more like AFL Tas put pressure on them to not allow it because it would get more than the two northern teams in the state league!

Just like you can't be a little bit pregnant, you can't be a little bit covid. If the borders are closed and we are Covid free then we are free. It makes no sense to alienate a select activity when for all intense and purposes life in Tasmania is back to normal. If people were freely travelling into the state then some caution would be tolerated. These arbitrary constraints have provided little or no protection from harm but have come at a considerable cost and source of angst to football clubs managed by family and volunteers. What Gutwein is actually saying is that Covid exists in the state.

As requested I’ll do one of these for the SFL to make sure to check out my TSL one too
