Interesting to line Bolton up with Luke Beveridge as both were assistants under Clarko since 2011. St Kilda signed him mid year as Director Of Coaching to commence after the season. Clarko chased him hard at the time and he's looked after the Hawks backline since 2011.
Plenty of talent out there still.

The more I read, the more I like him. Also the more I read, the more I sound like tigernova. Christ.

So Bolton is apparently sone philosophical genius, the players love him, etc. etc. blah. blah.

Last to coach a VFL / AFL premiership without playing at VFL / AFL level was (drum roll please ) .......... Couldn't be arsed going back past 1950 so I don't know the answer, but my point is this ....

In the big games at the business end of the season it matters that you have played at the elite level when it comes to making FOOTBALL coaching decisions. Out of all of those premiership coaches, almost all of them played well over 100 games as well and a lot of them played in premierships.

So although I think Bolton appears to be a top candidate and he will most likely be pretty successful, especially with the list he will have, I question his potential to coach a team to a premiership, and let's face it, there's the winners .... and then there is everybody else.

Not saying I wouldn't like him to coach the Suns because I have already stated I would be happy with that, but this was / is my only concern with him and I believe a valid concern.

Now there's our ideal candidate. Great communicator, could perform miracles with this list. Understands that to lead is really to serve. Would be truthful to the players but still show the Gen Ys a lot of love and tenderness. Players and supporters would die for him. He'd know what the opposition's tactics were before they even knew. Downside is he would probably piss off the authorities at AFL HOUSE and end up crucified in a worse manner than Bluey.

I just can't reconcile the reasoning behind bringing in another inexperienced coach. This is go-time for us, why take such an unnecessary risk?

Only thing there isn't a lot out there , theres Thompson , Sando , Laidley and maybe Ratten are the only ones still in the system.

Seems we have the same problem as when we were trying to find our inaugural coach which was why we continued with Bluey. Lack of availability of top notch candidates

I think bomber will get the job,the media has shown that hird will be there for good and there is no room for bomber. wait til bomber gets back from holidays. and if the gcs gets bomber there will interest from more players to come to the gold coast.

Can't help but think we missed an opportunity with Voss going to Port, being a Qlder and champion footballer with Senior experience he would of been great for us in a similar role to the one he will play at Port

It took a huge, huge sum of money to get Voss out of his media gig and to Port. And he was quoted in saying that he wanted to get back into the bubble of a footy state. Neither of which we can provide.

Just the way it is, unfortunately.
