Now that Essendon is basically ****ed, what's the likelihood of Bomber actually wanting to stay? Apparently, judging from the Essendon board, there are rumours circling about Little, Hird, and Bomber all being let go to 'start over'. More truth than a rumour from what I'm reading.

I am actually most interested in Ryder. If we are not enquiring then that is pure incompetence regardless of the ASADA situation.

If we are looking for a new coach James will be free in a few weeks :D
I told yall. Hunters are circling the carcass of bluey.....its not him they are interested in, its his pond. They study the pond....

To all those suggesting Bomba (not sure if joking or not) as a replacement for the coaching position, do you think both him and gaj have buried the hatchet to the extent that they could work together once again?

Doesn't mean he won't be conducting it!

What sort of a review will it be when the bloke overseeing the review looks after the department. It will be lip service and Bluey gonski...

Would have looked better getting an external person in to do review ...away from Choppers..for transparency

It's quite normal for the person who manages the department to oversee and participate in audits / reviews - who do you think organizes the ****ing thing? The golden rule is he cannot audit his own work / role. When senior management (i.e. the board) call for an intense review, I don't think a half-arsed attempt at a full audit would go unnoticed when you have a million dollar coaching contract / payout involved, especially given the tight reins head office (i.e. the AFL) have over us. Ashcroft's job would be on the line if he ****s this up.

I have confidence that our management understand how to conduct a proper review professionally and without bias.

You're just speculating. How do you know they haven't involved independent auditors? Even if they don't I've seen plenty of internal audits carried out far more successfully than external audits as the internal auditor has a far greater understanding of the organization's procedures and policies, KPIs etc.

Person? Open your eyes mate, the bloke has a massive fan club on Bigfooty and Reddit alike. It's like he's formed a new religion or something.

This is true. Heavily over rated in my opinion

Let's all just be thankful we don't have Hird as coach.

The article reflects David King's comments on AFL 360 earlier this week when he stated it was down to Gary Ablett whether McKenna kept his job.

It makes sense in that Ablett is untouchable and his desire to win another flag is public knowledge. It would be logical that Ablett would respond honestly if he was asked whether McKenna was the man capable of leading the GCS to a flag.

He is a fierce competitor who wants the ultimate team prize before retiring.

The outcome will be most interesting!!

I can't help but wonder if Gazza sitting in the coaches box with Bluey for the last cpl months of the season may have allowed him to witness first hand some deficiencies in Bluey's coaching skills which has also been raised in end of season reviews?
Gazza still hasn't put pen to paper.

reading an article that said if bluey isn't sacked, he should get a contract extention....but if it went pear shaped then, the blokes that signed him should be sacked also.......

who writes this shit?

edit; this ponce does,,, http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/an...in-clubs-history/story-fndv8hfz-1227065611235

In fact, it could be just as easily described as an exercise to legitimise a move to lock him away on a long term deal.
Because if McKenna survives this audit he must be given an extension for a year or two beyond his current deal which expires at the end of next year. You don’t call a review of this scope to work out if you have the right guy for the next 12 months.
Which leads to the other inevitable conclusion from the review — If the club does not feel he can win a flag, they must move him on immediately. If they think sacking a coach this year is messy, imagine how shambolic things will look this time next year.
For starters Ashcroft and Witheriff’s positions, if they back McKenna in and it goes pear shaped, become untenable.

Big words from Gaz on Brownlow night.

Said he'd be very surprised if Bluey isn't Coaching next year. Endorsed the Coaching and development of the players.

If he's that firm on it, will be interesting to see how the Board sways.
