We'll see. If he either gets the job or they interview him then you're wrong because they are obviously interested.
If he gets the job at Essendon* beforehand then you may be neither right or wrong as we may never know if the club was chasing him or not.
If they don't interview him and appoint someone else AND he hasn't got another coaching job at that time, then you will be correct.

Anyway the speculation and anticipation of who will be the new coach is exciting. I'm sure you all agree on that?
Agreed, and it may seem that I'm pro-Bomber. I don't care as long as we get the best candidate. I was just defending GAJ and getting all the facts straight.

If Thompson becomes coach, i'll be on his back. If GAJ gets unhappy or wont re-sign for the next 3 years i'll leave the club. I don't mind other choices, even if its not Bolton. But Bomber is a mistake, and not a nice one.

Hell, we just went through a player revolt against a bloke I regarded as a nice fella. People are different behind the scenes. Bolton is the best product from the best footy factory in AFL. Yet our Executive are chasing an old flog that doesn't get on with GAJ? FFS!!!!!!!
If you are basing your argument that McKenna and Thompson are no good on 'people are different behind the scenes' - then how the hell do you know anything about Bolton? Surely you haven't spent some time at the Hawks?

I've seen the footage of Bomber at the airport now about 50 times in the last 2 days on Foxtel.

Interesting :
He says something like "I don't know what I'm doing today. I don't know what I'm doing tomorrow".
He then says, "there aren't any jobs ..." and stops himself quickly as if he was about to say something stupid and immediately says "I don't know what everybody's talking about".

I'm wondering if he was about to say "available" or "offered to me".

If he was going to say "available" then it may have suggested that he was waiting for Tird to be sacked, as the Suns job was already vacated.

If he was going to say "offered" then he may have alluded to waiting for the Suns offer.

Either way it seemed to me that he was about to put his foot in it.
Did anyone else see that and think it was odd?

Only saw it on Footy Classified, and due to others in the house being in bed didn't haw the TV too loud. Will now go and rewatch that part and give my thoughts

I'm almost certain he was going to say avaliable. he does go on to say that "the landscape is the same as yesterday. No jobs, I'm going to try and step up a role at Essendon going forward." Then when asked about whether James Hird will still be coach, he shrugs and with a smirk says "Dunno".

So he's either giving GC a chance to grab him, or he's "telling" Essendon I want top job.

Yeah. Just seemed odd. Like he was about to accidentally give something away.

It did seem odd when I first saw it last night, but "dismissed" it as Bomber cryptic clue "Down 7". But once pointed out, it seemed the airport did something to him. That close to leaving and his brain went to mush, then saw "that bloke who pushed Paddy Mills" and his mind switched back on. I do wonder are the Suns going to go "old school" and chase him in LA to sign him IF he's their number 1 target.

When Sheedy used to talk about aliens at Essendon* do you think he was referring to Bomber? Food for thought.

Interesting that Hird is expediting his appeal so possibly the whole thing could be done and dusted by the end of the month, there is a good chance Essendon is funding Hird to appeal and appear to not condone it because then the show cause notices for the players continue to be processed BUT if Essendon appeal they stop. The sticking point for me is that I think Essendon HAVE to be backing Hirds appeal financially as he couldn't take on that cost and fund a losing appeal himself. I think the odds are looking stronger and stronger that he is negotiating his way though this to stay onboard with Essendon and Bomber will be left out to move on

Chris Scott wins a flag first year, Longmire ditto. Hinkley transforms Port from a basket case to contender in 2 years.
I'm glad the club have a process in place rather than just an international search for Bomber Thompson.
Scott Burns tough and a great communicator. Stuart Dew brilliant footy brain and honest. Apparently someone named Bolton is available too??? Lets chat to them. I'm more relaxed after the email and other announcements, that we'll get it right.

Has sando said anything since his sacking? Surely has to be in the mix - personally he would be my number 1 target above bomber or bolton.

I agree with you, just quietly I think Stewie Dew could be amazing and a superb fit for us, could be a real left field find for this job
