So that text to McKenna likely to be from Swallow then? Since he was informed by phone
i read about this on the day of his sacking. was there any footage of it? i don't know a lot about it haha.

i reckon if it was a WA boy it would have been swallow. been with him since he was 17 pretty much.

If Stewie Dew is our destiny this will give the non believers some faith - I was there the day he took 5 minutes of pure brilliant ascendency and won the GF for the Hawks - love the way he is straight on the boot off a step - be nice to get that into our guys rather than the constant handballing from players in the clear to players under pressure - - the only thing we can't allow him to do is oversee the teams "nutritional development"

Pros. Paul Roos made it no secret he wanted Dew as his successor. Highly rated for his communication with players and coaches box input. Many clubs approached him last year. Dual premiership player at different set ups and coached by Choco and Clarkson.
Cons. Signed a 3 year extension with the Swans last year and they wouldn't release him back then. Wonder what their position is now.

It was at the start of Bluey's presser and he referred to starting to read a text from one of the WA boys and he chokes up saying it didn't go down very well meaning he broke down reading it I guess

I think he was actively speaking with Adelaide though so maybe The Swans are OK with him moving now, hope so I feel he is the best fit and has definitely got the creds

I recall that Sydney didn't release him, actually. Didn't go down well with the broader community given how Coaching apprenticeships normally work. Be interesting to see if that changes now.
Thinking that was more to do with the Roos/Colless spat over him trying to woo Swans academy players to Melbourne.

Team Dew!
So we are doing a lions job,,,, sack the coach, thinking we will get a experienced finals coach, and now we are nowhere with this. Lions , after not getting Roos , had to go for a non experienced coach at senior level be it Leppa. Now we are doing the same, looking at a coach that is a rookie . Puts us back 5 years, when we appointed Bluey.A rookie coach is not going to get us to the next level, I thought the sacking of Bluey was because the club didn't think he could do this after 5 years of coaching.. Now we may be in the same position? Or are we looking at someone that hasn't been mentioned, ie a coach that has lifted clubs to finals . For example, Sheedy, Choco Williams, etc.
What about Rodney Rocket Eade.... is a very good coach?

I'm still keen for Bomber. He's my number one choice by far, but I'm starting to feel that he isn't the choice the panel will aim for. :(

or have we got Bomber,,,, he has gone on holidays to the USA for 2 weeks, leaving everything in his wake at home. That just doesn't add up to me. He knows what is going on, be it coach of us or Essendon... one would think he has had a gutful of all this shit going on at Essendon, and will take the Suns job. ( if the Suns have offered him the job). One comment he did make a few days ago was that he thought if One was to take on a coaches role , the Suns wud be the go as they are on the upside .I mean wouldn't a experienced coach that has coached sides to the flag relish taking on the Suns at the moment. With the list of talent we have, much of this talent developing and getting up around that 50 game experience mark, etc etc. Shit, if I was a experienced coach with flag success, I would be going for the job big time.

The thing with Dew last season was that he would have gone into an assistant role - at least until Roos departed. The official word from the Swans was that they would not release Dew to serve as an assistant at another club. Longmire has stated this year when asked about Dew applying for the Adelaide position that "a senior position is different to an assistant position".

stuyd1,
Chris Scott & Longmire won flags as rookies. Hinkley was a rookie and has turned Port around immediately. I'm not sure the board ever said it wanted an experienced coach. The opposite it seems.

Scott and Longmire took on very well developed sides. The exception here has been Hinkley with Port. And we choose Bluey over him.!!!

And on top of that, we lost him to Port Adelaide.I know we are a young club and learning, but at this current moment, we are not looking good.No senior coach, no CEO, a reserve grade side that didn't win a game in the NEAFL,and poor facilities in comparsion to most other AFL clubs....Welcome to the big time!!

Ha. I just pay attention to media outlets. :p Malceski has been floating around for the past few months. Though I did pitch the Hallahan one ages ago. Maybe Clayton read BF and thought it was a good idea.

Honestly no idea who Dew really even is. Doesn't seem to have the profile of the others, so I don't know what sort of person he is. I just saw he was short-odds on the betting market but isn't getting mentioned anymore.

The Bluey stuff I did some personal chasing up about, I'll grant you that. I have mega powers in the club. Don't diss me.
Feel free to use those powers to determine if we're trading Brady and starting Jimmy G Sunny.

I'll come out and say it. I have no idea who Stewie Dew was. When I voted in the poll, I chose him because he was the only name I didn't know, and it sorta giggles out of my mouth. So thats why I voted.

If and When I am proven right, I want the record to show that for the rest of his coaching tenure I am will refer to him as Giggles. #honesty

Why are people still saying the board sacked McKenna to get someone with finals experience? They said they'd like a guy with finals experience, but it's pretty clear they sacked him because they didn't want him to coach the team moving forward. Not because they thought they were going to get bomber or whatever. They'll play the market, get the guy they like most who's available, and be happier about it than they would've been moving forward with Bluey.

The last 3 pages seems like its a done deal with dew.. is this cause of sunny' s gut feel and dwd's suspicions of sunny? Or have I missed someone reporting something?

I take it your new to the game as Dew only retired a few years ago in 2010 , after playing 13 years of footy . When playing Dew was a fairly big unit , haven't seen him recently , is 8-1 to coach us so right in the frame , top 6 in betting is Thompson , Tudor , Burns , Dew , Bolton and Bassett . Can we see the next Suns coiach there?

Dew, Bolton or Bassett for mine.

Not sure we'd go for Burns, who just started with the Pies. Don't know anything about Tudor.

In the end it will be their ability to communicate well with players as well as develop them properly that will be the main criteria IMO. Dew, Bolton and Bassett all fill those well.
