Speaking on AFL Trade Radio, Ashcroft confirmed the club will not rush the appointment as it searches for just the second coach in its young history.

“We’re prepared to take our time and make sure we’ve got the right planning in place,” Ashcroft said.

“The only time pressures are what we want internally. Our players are due back in early November; we need to make sure we can hopefully find someone in that time period.

“I don’t think we need to be rushed. We’ve got a clear understanding as to the couple of key things we need in the coach going forward and we just need to make sure we don’t deviate from the plan. When we’re on plan, we’ll get the right person.



So that was only 1 week ago and if they are true to their word then they aren't going to be rushed by the timeframe/agenda of prospective applicants or apprehensive supporters (as excruciating as it may be waiting for updates or snippets of information.

Yeah we do .... a whole families worth in my case. But they don't march to the beat of our drums.

I would like to at least have the list of candidates confirmed, but as of now it's the only gig available (and a bloody cheery ripe one at that) and all of the potentials ...... yes mate that includes your boy Bolton .... are still available so will assume they are the list for now.

Personally I like the way they are taking a measured thorough approach to it. Tells me that if they decide to go with Bomber Thompson that they are sure he is the best person and importantly, the best fit for the club. If so I'm confident that also means there would be no issues whatsoever b/w Bomber and GAJ because it's not going to be a knee-jerk reaction appointment just because Bomber became available.

In fact I think the longer it goes on and they consider all options that it won't be Bomber anyway. No inside running on that, it's just my gut feel.

It would be disrespectful to those that miss out on the role, generally clubs do not list the interviewees, some end up in the media but generally I think it is seen as poor form.

The official overview of the coaching situation hasn't officially ended yet, has it? There's been no mention of a new assistant coach, or any change to the coaching staff. I'd imagine that stuff would be announced before anything to do with our new head coach is.

the letter to the members did give us an update. we're not being kept in the dark. no club is going to make every single detail of an internal process public knowledge.

in the letter, it was addressed that "an implementation plan has been prepared and will be put forward to the board at our next meeting on 23rd of October for approval". so take that as you will. i read it as they've arranged a plan for the selection of the new coach and other matters moving forward, which will be looked over in the board meeting on the 23rd. the players regroup for preseason in November, so by the end of October, I believe we'll have a new coach.

i was a bit iffy with the timing of it all, but we've landed malceski. i have faith that we're going to do the right thing now.
