They're both fabulous players - so are Thilthorpe and Worrell. I don't think anyone can accurately measure a player's influence on a game yet, so the 80 and 85 is subjective. How we all rate them comes down to our biases or beliefs about what is the most impactful. My bias or belief on what influences the most says Rankine is your best. But appreciate why others would say Dawson or Thilthorpe.Sure. But if over a season their output is 80, and another player is 85 the player who's done more over a season to put the team in a position to win has had the better year.
It probably comes down to what people rate the highest in terms of what players do

For me, it's who wins you a game in the last minute of minor round games, and Finals ......Rankine is most likely to do that "SPECIAL" thing ......Dawson and Thilthorpe, neck & neck, tied for 2nd placeIt probably comes down to what people rate the highest in terms of what players do
Thilthorpe. If other clubs could poach one player out of Dawson, Rankine and Thilthorpe who would they take?
Usually Clubs would go the tall (Thilthorpe) .....but then Clubs are now also focussing on speedIf other clubs could poach one player out of Dawson, Rankine and Thilthorpe who would they take?
Pies had a good Murphy. You never watched Murphy
Most would take Thilthorpe. If other clubs could poach one player out of Dawson, Rankine and Thilthorpe who would they take?
That is the only question you need to ask .If other clubs could poach one player out of Dawson, Rankine and Thilthorpe who would they take?
That's why you bombed out in finals. There was no one in your midfield that's hard to tackle, can draw players to result in clean entries from congestion. It was all just dump kicks forward. Rankine just changes that dynamic massively. As sr36 said ...Rankine can break a game open, drag additional multiple oppo players to him .....and he can do it in multiple roles, but for me, he has to play midfield
Murphy! Even his teammates can't contain him!Who do opposition find hardest to contain?
It’s the stuff we supporters outside the club didn’t noticeMurphy! Even his teammates can't contain him!![]()
Dawson = bestImo he is now our most important player & hardest to replace.
Have him #2 behind Dawson for best player.
Are they taking them for one game, or the rest of their career? If other clubs could poach one player out of Dawson, Rankine and Thilthorpe who would they take?
St Kilda would offer Worrell a 10 year deal at $2m per year (only for him to refuse and they end up having to give Wilkie yet another pay rise). If other clubs could poach one player out of Dawson, Rankine and Thilthorpe who would they take?
ThilthorpeIf other clubs could poach one player out of Dawson, Rankine and Thilthorpe who would they take?
