The Freo game last year was a bit of a wake up call. Might as well get the wake up call in Round 1.

LOL no way..no chance Collingwood will be made to travel outside Victoria that early in the season. They will get 8 games at the G to limber up and get their eye in before having one of maybe 2 trips across their whole season interstate.

Travelled game 1 to GWS, game 6 to Brisbane and game 9 to Freo. Add in gather round and they travelled more than us in the first 9 rounds.

We shall see, the hardest possible draw would but the AFL won't wanna go full corrupt, so what we get shouldn't considering last years draw was already one of the hardest.

It can’t really get harder in terms of the double ups. The key is the single games. Eagles away and teams like Saints/Dogs at home should be 2 wins. Reverse that and it’s a % booster and a 50/50.

We played them away last year, I don’t think it’s too hard to reverse that. Got Cats at home this year, play them away next year. Ignoring the double ups, why don’t they just swap the singles around year to year? So if Freo is a double up, we play them at home in 2027.

I think they played interstate 5 times plus gather. I wouldn’t think that’s much less than most Vic clubs.

Which I’m trying to correct. All VIC clubs have easier travel requirements. But offsetting that is they don’t have a genuine home ground advantage every other week. Unearned home GFs is what we should be bringing up regularly.

Sure they "travel" as much as other Vic teams numbers wise. But when did they last travel to Tassie? Or Darwin? Or Alice Springs? Or Canberra? Or shit, even Kardinia Park or Ballarat?

I don't mind either, but it's increasingly egregious that the melbourne teams don't cop this, and probably not in the last round either, which I wonder if we'll be back to our traditional away vs west coast.

A 17 round draw. Play everyone once. Then straight into the same 17 round draw with venues flipped.

Start the next season wherever you got up to and it continues on
