A lot they do shit me too, but you can't really argue with results - the "lack of quality people in AFL house" has overseen a massive boom in the competition. The recent AFL executives have been more interested in the gravy train & their bonuses than the good of the competition.
There has been a lack of quality football people in AFL house.
You really think it would be hard for the AFL to make a profit?A lot they do shit me too, but you can't really argue with results - the "lack of quality people in AFL house" has overseen a massive boom in the competition.

The lack of quality football people until recently has been telling, particularly the rule changes & umpiring. We had 2 poor lawyers with no feel for the game & ordinary administrators.
At least with the additions of Swann & Harley recently i feel more confident of the future direction
Personally i watch less games than ever... & I'm not alone. Imo the game is less watchable & that is on the AFL. Umpiring has never been worse & some games are boring.I'm not talking about money - the game is booming under any measure. The Americanised hooplah around the current game shits me, but I'm 50 - I'm neither the future nor the target market.

So you rate the AFL leadership.I think his point is a good one.
Every measure seems to show that the game is very healthy. Umpiring has always been complained about. There's obviously a lot going right.
Someone can be qualified and a DEI hire too. It's stated on the afl website the afl has a DEI policy for employment.I’m not hero worshipping her at all. I’m just calling you out on your misogynistic bullshit. She wasn’t a DEI hire, she was well qualified for the role she was hired for.

Spoke to one of his junior coaches during the week. Extremely arrogant kid. His old man is also quite toxic. Please let's not try any fancy footwork for Jevan Phillipou. I want players to have strong self-confidence but his arrogance is next level. Hope he goes to St Kilda with his brother and they can continue the culture rot at that club.
Oh, so tell me what qualifications were required for the job?If this is in reference to Laura Kane she absolutely did not have enough qualifications and experience for the position she got at the AFL

They were from the wrong side of Grange road so Grandfather Peter played for Torrens and could play.Spoke to one of his junior coaches during the week. Extremely arrogant kid. His old man is also quite toxic.
Not to mention all her work at the grass roots with girls and women in footy…,Well she was appointed to the highest executive role of football in the AFL, and her experience amounted to law school then five years of experience at North Melbourne, plus a management role in the AFL for 2 years
The person replacing her had 25 years of CEO experience, and the person prior was a player and coach across 20+ years. So that's probably the bar for the role.

I’ll help you…joining the VAFA’s Melbourne Uni women’s team as a 12-year-old after playing Auskick until she was no longer allowed to with no Youth Girls footy existing back then, Laura spent three years training every week but was not allowed to play. She ultimately rose through the ranks from player to coach to President at Melbourne University, before becoming a practising solicitor for a couple of years, representing victims of child sexual abuse in the royal commission against churches and institutions. She then joined North Melbourne where she fought to build pathways for girls and women within the sport. Not to mention all her work at the grass roots with girls and women in footy…,
Was she any good at any of them?I’ll help you…joining the VAFA’s Melbourne Uni women’s team as a 12-year-old after playing Auskick until she was no longer allowed to with no Youth Girls footy existing back then, Laura spent three years training every week but was not allowed to play. So while she might not have taken the traditional male route, and with the limited opportunities for women in the sport, I’d say she paid significant dues in her service to footy (particularly for women and girls).

Imo, Laura Kane was clearly out of her depth & should never have been appointed with her limited experience. Was she any good at any of them?
Perhaps you should reply to JennyImo, Laura Kane was clearly out of her depth & should never have been appointed with her limited experience.
Clearly the AFL have admitted they got it wrong with all the new football department appointments.
This has nothing to do with her gender & all to do with her lack of experience.

It depends what the plan actually was.
Never Met her. I dare say neither have you. But you sure do mouth off about her. I think she’s made fundamental mistakes in her new gig, but no more than the incompetent men in AFL house….Oh god, let me guess, you’ve met Laura and like everyone you’ve met, they’re all brilliant. Even when she was demoted, it wasn’t her fault.
This does not mean the people they hire are not qualified. It generally means that when both candidates are the same qualifications, they’ll pick the female. People (men) seem to believe women just get these jobs just because they are women. Can’t possibly have gotten them on merit…. If Laura Kane got a job she wasn't qualified for, blame the fellas who hired her. Based on their previous performance at AFL house, id say they were sorely out of their depth in the first place.
