NWM choosing between 8 years 1.2 mill/y from us or Saints 2 years 1.4 mill/y
For what it’s worth, was told on Sunday that the club believe NWM is choosing between 8 years from us and 2 years from Saints. No chance of going to Port, they can’t afford him or satisfy Saints now that Bergman has re signed.

Came straight from a current player’s old man who should know. Certainly surprised me, but could well be true as he’s surely worth at least 2 and maybe 3 firsts, and I can’t see how Port would find them.

You'd think for sure you'd go where you could get a flag shot

Do you normally get intel and how reliable is it?

Its a great thought having NWM in our side if its a possibility. Imagine him on 1 wing and Dan Curtin on the other....frightening

Nah, he’s playing in the guts. Some of the stuff he did in the middle against Geelong was ridiculous.

If we get NWM we’d be a premiership contender for many years to come.

Absolutely and he is right smack bang in the right age profile for us too. I just hope he looks at our list and thinks that there is a chance to maybe win multiple flags and be back in his home state doing it. Port are not going to be around the mark for a long time as when they have all available they are good but not great and are not a flag contender.

Draper is worse for our squad than rob.
Rob's fitness and preparation is absolutely elite.

Rob is having a great year. The changes to the ruck rule really benefit him.
Which I reckon is going to get changed to stop the grappling and go back to jumping which doesn’t suit Rob.
I’d be very wary locking him in for 3 years.

You cant sign a player based on fear

You sign them because you think they will fit your structure and team. Also who they are replacing is leaving

If any of our rucks do an injury 8 weeks out you would hope the development team has instructed the B grader in structures and placements - and cross your fingers

Your scenario is built on fear - because the next response is ''what if both rucks go down omg ''
Yes we can, we totally can, that's how literally all of our politics works

And makes the insinuation about Walker more likely some Chris Davies petulance thrown to the media

Oh boy, this is what I am here for. Some hope to get me through the working day. Exactly what we need and if he did come hopefully two firsts and say a fringe player would get it done? Sholl comes to mind, good enough to be playing top level. Regardless it would be a huge get for the future of the club to add him in. Woweee. Pls be true.

I drink with this guy in the Peter Carey Bar every home game and he always has plenty of goss about the club and his son’s contract situation. FWIW he’s always been on the money about that and when he passes on stuff it’s to the whole table, so he’s not saying anything in confidence. I imagine it’s pretty easy to guess who it is but I won’t name him just in case he’s saying something he shouldn’t.

Oh man, I reckon I know your mate's brother (e.g. the uncle).

We kinda sorta got along. He never told me anything useful.

Under the "desk" type situation?

It's a question to what the club is thinking, not what we want. Pretty dumb by you really to not get that.
What the club is thinking? You're the one who said "What if it's both? Tex retires and Draper takes his spot in the 22 allowing Thilthorpe to be full time forward."

Sorry, the only thing that's dumb is suggesting we replace Tex with a lumbering ruck like Draper.

We're one of the VERY few sides to have ever looked like succeeding running three key talls. If anything, when Tex goes we should replace him with a mobile third tall type.

You don't replace one of the highest footy IQs with a mullet who lies on the ball and kicks around corners.

He replaces ROB. That's it, or nothing.

If you think the club is dumb enough to do that, you should say that's how you feel - there's not been much in this build that makes anyone think they'd do that.

I'm not a fan of the idea. Tex is 10x the player Draper is as a forward. We would be a worse forward half threat next season if its true.

The only logic I can come up with is the club likes the 3 tall structure, and having bail out options down the line for safety in a defensive strategy. Draper kind of allows that when we have Thilthorpe in the ruck.

Probably why they threw that grenade at Walker using one of their mouth piece in Wilson and why they then choose to re-sign Bergman. NWM will definitely cost us 3 1st rounders and a fringe player as the 2027 1st rounder is highly compromise with the draft concession.
