Either way doesn't help them get NWM. Really unsure how they get that done.
They can trade us JHF for our next two firsts

Think About It GIF by Identity

Power can still get NWM if Butters stays.

If Butters leaves theyll need to cough up more than they would have if Butters stays.

NWM will get to Port. Its looking more likely every day.

A young indigenous player wants to return home to be close to his family. The Saints will have to take unders.

What does him being indigenous have to do with it?

He's uncontracted.

If he wants to work at the Power it will happen.

Saints won't need to take unders if Butters leaves.

C4 is saying Saints are into Whitlock who is keen to go home. You’d assume if NWM chooses Port he will be part of a trade
A speculative 2nd round picked player in his draft year and lightyears away from senior footy at this stage. Can't see what value he brings to any possible offer other than as a back ended stand alone trade.

Port have been very good at getting deals done with bare minimum, but this one looks a stretch too far. Without trading out a top player they have literally nothing to satisfy StKilda with.

Do St Kilda have any highly paid, dogshit players that they'd love to get off the books?

The system doesn’t work that way. It’s not fair for the team losing the uncontested player. Once a player nominates a club, history says he gets there, and in this case, Saints will get what they are given.

Of course, SOS will dig his heels in and threaten the PSD etc. But in the end, they’ll have to accept the two future firsts (because the AFL will sign off on it) and perhaps Whitlock or Berry — or whatever shit deal Port can offer.

NWM will be lining up in Port colours round one next year. We need to get used to it.

Well I simply don't believe the AFL will sign off on 2026 future first and 2027 future picks will be worthless if Tassie goes ahead, but time will tell. Not every player gets to the club of their choice. I don't see Port having anything more than a current 2nd and future 2nds to trade with without adding players to the deal. I think the most likely outcome is NWM stays at St Kilda for now.

The one thing in our favour is that St Kilda are a Victorian struggler

The AFL will look after them if they can

Will they though? I'm not so sure. They already had to get an exemption last year to trade this years.

The Poo had first round picks in 2024 (Berry) & 2021 (Sinn) so haven't broken the 2-picks-in-4-years rule so should be able to trade their future '26 & '27 first round picks this up coming trade period.

Just that they then cant trade future picks in '26, '27, '28 & '29 trade periods (under that rule) if nothing changes.

Bit of a limp lettuce pumishment.
