I know its a whole season away... but will spider be playing in hawthorn colours in 2007?? Will it depend on hawthorns on field sucess in 2006 or just wether he wants to play for us anymore?? we have recruited a further two ruckman this year, and have opted to keep robbie campbell, and with tails that makes 4 ruckman 2nd to spider, did we stock up on ruckman because we think spida will be leaving or simply because we needed more ruck stocks, what are your thoughts?

I think Everitt will end his career as a Hawthorn player, who goes forward to become the tall, stay in the square type player.

AC is following the Port/Brisbane blueprint to success - have four or five ruckmen on your list to make sure you always have at least two good ones available at all times.

Also, Max Bailey and Luke McEntee were rated as 1 and 2 in ruck talent in the draft so he took them, knowing that, at best, Everitt will only have two or three great years left in him.

I think his plan again this year will involve Robbie Campbell/Simon Taylor doing as much grunt work in the middle and across the backline with Everitt pushed forward as the "bomb it in" forward and forward of the centre ruckman.

That is why Robbie Campbell is so important, regardless of what a lot of Hawks supporters might think of him. Crucial year for his continued development into a solid Darren Jolly type ruckman.

You are right on the button, GoHawks!!, it is very heartening to observe our recruiters and coaches building up or ruck stocks. It is going to be interesting how it all pans out with the tall youngsters who have impressed at junior level.

Certainly there will be a need to take the work-load off Spider as he ages.

The problem with Campbell and Taylor is that they don't/can't take many marks for big guys. White, Everett, Cox, King, Primus etc can all crash a pack and take the big grab.
I think Campbell and Taylor are still borderline as to whether they will make it and be long term prospects so that is why we have drafted more rucks.

i think spida will be ok but he will retire one day and we have to be very ready for that
