All in all a very frustrating annoying night at the football. We managed to lose 2-1 whilst a man up. Admittedly the Stallions goal would probably be candidate for goal of the season, as what both Rhett & I deduced was actually a mistimed cross ended up floating over Hendo and into the net in front of the very very small Spirit support.

Everyone's favourite friend Fred Leggett spent the whole second half mouthing off in incomprehensible Scottish at Hendo, who thankfully gave as good as he got. The highlight of the night was Hutchy telling him to "****ing well shut up"towards the end of the match. Go Hutchy!

It was a very fiercely fought match (must have been the firey new red away strip-LOVE it! ). But our attempt to try and build up steadily out of defence led to several passes simply being intercepted. Against we were torn to pieces on the counter, often at the result of one of the aforementioned errant passes.

It was just a shame that only 1500 odd bothered to turn up to such a firey derby. Especially when the club was PACKED for the badge draw only an hour before the match started.

If we fail to make the semis, we can look back on tonight's match as one that got away.

Yay, finally got one right in the tipping comp!

And now for another match report:

South Melbourne Clowns 0 Brisbane 1
I thought we might be genuine title contenders this year, but instead we got the same old rubbish South served up most of last season. On this performance we can look forward to midtable mediocrity at best. Wayward passing and shooting (Jason Kearton hardly had to make a save in the Brisbane goal), and no cohesian in attack, and lazy and shaky in defence. Brisbane showed that all you need to do to get a result at Bob Jane Stadium is work hard, put pressure on the South players when they have the ball, then wait for the mistakes to come.

Only highlights for us were the 7000-plus crowd (but how many will show up next week after that performance?), and the "Heritage" shirt worn by South - white with a red V just like the old Swans VFL jersey!

Hendo's not to good with the long range shots is he? I remember a couple of years ago when Brad Maloney was playing for glory he scored a goal from way out side the box allbeit curled like a bastard but hendo was caught out of position.
