One of the major differences between us and the top teams was encapsulated in one "effort" from Scotty Thornton.

Third man up, in a spoiling attempt on Fevola.

St Kilda defender: Smashes Fevola with knees in the guts whilst punching ball away.

Scotty Thornton: Engineers it so he makes no body contact. throws one arm out, misses and Fevola marks and goals.

This one incident really just was the essence of why we're shit, have been shit and will stay shit until the dumb arses get the arse

Fair point. However, can also I just point out Fevola is a weak, soft, whinging little girl?

Who was given a mark after the ball hit the post twice!!

Casper is a FRIENDLY ghost.....:p

I was wondering whether anyone was going to bring that up. It was a weak, gutless effort by Thornton who put himself ahead of the team. It was the first in a string of about 5 or 6 really pathetic efforts in about 5 minutes by our players and I remember thinking whether those sort of acts get players wondering why they would bother putting their bodies on the line when others aren't.

What really disappointed me is that he didnt get dragged for it.

My "frustration" meter just exploded.

How fricken hard is it for an "AFL Footballer" to hit the contest hard.
He wasn't even going back with the flight, he was coming in from the side...he had the running and could've done some real damage to Fevola as well as smash the ball.

Instead he squibbed it.
What must the young bloke think when they see that bull shit?
More to the point, how do Harvey and Chris Scott, two of the toughest defenders you're ever likely to see, stop themselves from throwing a chair through the coaches box window in rage?.

Duffield got dropped for dropping his head in a marking contest.
Thornton should never play again...pathetic.

He did squibb it indeed....

all well... only seven more matches to go before we can bone the entire lot of the squibbs and dead wood. The Job was started last year and is only half way done....

thornton = lord squibblington

speaking of squibbs, throw Hinkley in the boat, though minutes after his squibb he did do an alright HTB.

Suban's effort (and even Armfield's) was great. He simply went for the ball, won the ball, and Armfield just happened to be in the way.

Another incident happened in front of me. Ibbotson got put down by Fevola off the ball, then Tarrant came through and flattened Fevola. Great stuff. Match review panel investigated it but came up with nothing after player evidence.

Thornton would get snapped in half by the fat kid who is inevitably in the goalsquare at half time, can you imagine what would happen if he ran into Fevola? The only time I've ever seen Thornton throw himself into a contest was a game a few weeks back, maybe it was the Richmond or Hawthorn game, and he got flattened and took forever to get back on his feet. Not sure if he feels it any more or not due to his Crohn's condition.

On one hand he has a "shit yourself" kind of condition that might have made it through to his brain. On the other hand maybe we don't give him enough credit in the courage stakes for playing with such an affliction. Whatever the case, we ain't a charity and he has to go.

LOL that incident was hilarious. It was even funnier when Fevola was laying on the ground and trying to milk a free kick and the umpire told him to get up. Bloody gold stuff...he was just lucky Solly wasn't playing!
