I believe Oaks Hotels & Resorts is your new major sponsor going off your membership page. Accidental find.

Condolences to all staff of Oaks Hotels on their upcoming job losses.
I mean hotels tend to chew through staff at a decent clip anyway. Decent night staff for example are worth their weight in gold.

Congrats on the sponsorship guys, Look forward to seeing it a bunch with our multiple games at the Yo Gabba Gabba this year :thumbsu:

How much sponsorship can a hotel group pump in to a team like the Lions? They must be making it hand over fist through their pokies.

From a marketing point of view, it makes little sense to me for Oaks.

Really?

Queensland is a tourism destination. Oaks has a massive presence in Queensland and would derive a significant number of its customers from interstate. The Lions are a Queensland club playing in a national comp. Nearly every week, a whole bunch of interstate fans will now see the Oaks brand while watching their team play the Lions.

Not exactly subtle marketing. Makes more sense than business insurance or milk.

You also have the whole "footy fans travel and need a place to stay" thing.

I'm going to Adelaide to watch the Lions...might stay at an Oaks Hotel

Not that hard
I'm going down for that one too, round 3 v Rockys Power, good time slot too ie. Saturday afternoon 1.15pm, fly down early Saturday and back on Sunday, never been to the new Adelaide Oval, can't wait.

I wonder if the club/Oakes will be offering discount accommodation deals for members.

Oaks are a hotel accommodation chain, much like breakfree, mantra etc etc that specialise in holiday self contained apartments aimed largely at families. They're not a pub chain. In light of that they probably make the most sense of any sponsor we've had in recent times from a brand alignment POV. Getting them associated with the lions over the GC is a big win for us IMO as that would be another target market for them

Yeah, got that from the previous replies.

As I mentioned over on our side in regards to this sponsorship, Not much of a contest with their being about 10 or so properties in the Brisbane area vs just the one on the coast.

But it's a great get for you guys, Hope it pans out to be a long term thing.

I've stayed at Oaks on Market when in Melbourne for F1 trips in the past. I quite like their offering. I'm pretty chuffed to see them on board, if they offer a percentage discount for Lions members then I'll start actively seeking out their hotels when we travel in the future.

edit: Hah, did not know Oaks is Queensland based. Now that is fantastic news. Another Queensland sponsor for a Queensland based AFL team. :thumbsu:
