This was Keith Thomas' statement when Renault announced they would would be finishing.

“We are already in talks with a number of prospective new joint major partners to join OAK PLUS in 2018, and look forward to making an announcement later this year.”

From that comment I assumed we would have other joint major partners and they would have been announced late in 2017. It does not read as if OAK are matching the Renault deal moneywise and as a consequence we were hoping to get a couple more major partners. I guess there is still time and if we go with OAK as a sole major partner so be it.
From what I've been told the deal will get done (and I don't know who the sponsor is), however with the company there is a lot of dotting i's and crossing t's that need to be done with upper management. Hence the delay.

Renault were announced in March when they first signed on - theres no rush really. Ive heard good things from a few people who would know - whoever it is will get great value for money when we win the flag later this year ;-)**

*an inside source has confirmed, yep - we're winning the flag

Lockhart Road should be able to confirm this, but there was over a month difference between Energy Australia confirming they will be a major sponsor, if not actually signing on the dotted line, and when the club and EA had the press conference announcement they would come on board.

doesnt surprise me at all when you think about all the things that need to be arranged prior to an announcement

Correct. The EA deal was signed prior to Xmas 2013 and officially announced on Chinese New Year’s Day at end January 2014.

These days, though, we have a different state of affairs. The Club is now in a position to test the market’s opinion on a higher value for joint major sponsorship of PAFC. This, logically, takes its time, provided the process is being fully and seriously observed, and our China asset which is far more developed than it was in 2013-2014 is being properly laid on the table for assessment.

We also have a variety of partner types to consider and accommodate: 1) New funding partners, including those coming from directions previously unseen, some out of the blue; 2) Existing lower-level partners upgrading; 3) Existing major China partners, whose identity has not appeared on our game day strip, raising their ceiling and their desire for exposure; 4) Completely new China partners whose initial focus is on what PAFC is doing, and plans to do, in China rather than solely in Australia; 5) Individual entrepreneurs; 6) Other benefactors.

Due diligence adds to the process.

It’s become complex. It requires particular skills. It doesn’t happen overnight. And, for me, it’s bloody interesting.

(The above comment is the opinion of the author and not officially that of PAFC ... I think.)
