Spoon 2010

Its an interesting one. I don't know who will be bottom, but i don't think Melbourne will finish last.

When you consider they will receive 4 out of the first 18 (Scully and Trengove) in this years draft. Add to that Watts, Blease and Strauss who hardly played this season. Plus improvement in Jurrah, Wonaeamirri, Grimes, Bennell ect. I think they will finish better then many suspect.

It's a toss up between Port and Richmond - its just hard to see either team doing much next year, but Port takes the spoon for mine - their best player is Warren Treadrea, they reappointed Williams, no midfield and their young players yet to prove their worth. A team in crisis.

Its a toss up between Melbourne and Port. Melbourne will improve, and prob win 7 games at the most. Port have been shaky for a while. Next year will be their lowest year. I'll pick Port. 6/16 win/loss. It will be a tight season too.

Richmond are a decent chance. Allthough we were heavily backed for the spoon in 05 and 08 and in each of those years we won 10 and 11 games.

I voted Freo just because they are pitiful. I don't rate what I've seen of Hill or Palmer so far.

Thats abit harsh on the young blokes. They do need time to develop and become stars. Palmer won the rising star in his first year and missed this season with a knee injury. Hill will continue to improve aswell.

To the OP sorry but I had to vote for your team. I think that you have got some players that need to still be let go of such as Richo and a few others who are older and replace some of them with youth that have been developed into KPP.

cant decide between North Melbourne or Richmond
went with north thinking they had a worse list. But now that I think about it, North > RIchmond. I wish I could change my vote now

It wont be Melbourne.

I went Richmond. Even if Richo goes round again they looked truley awlful circa Melbourne 2007.

I went freo because they just turn the ball over to much even more so then richmond and dont have a forward line structure when pav aint playin forward.

Freo will climb the ladder next year. They have a bunch of kids coming through, hence why they turned the ball over so much; as they gain experience that will improve.

You're right about their forwardline though, they need to recruit a KPF in this draft.

had to pull off the biggest tank off all time to lose to you later in the year. I know who I'm glad to be supporting

With supporters like you it's hard to believe the club is in so much trouble.

Just think of the awesome picks you can get by spending another 3 yrs on the bottom of the ladder. :thumbsu:

Sit down you stupid little muppet

Coming from a club who's finals apperiances can be counted on one hand!

I tipped Richmond, but after seeing the results, I wish I had picked Port instead so they could catch up to the Dees.

Port seem to have some serious issues at the moment. Especially after losing their best player, and the only two trades they could get done were for two players who would've been on the AFL scrap heap if not for Ports desperation to prove that their cub was a club worth going to.

We lost Warren Tredrea/Chad Cornes/Kane Cornes/Daniel Motlop/Dom Cassisi? There's news...

Port Adelaide for sure. Lost both Burgoynes and Lade, aquired Nash and they seem to be at the first stage of rebuilding which often means they'll be at the bottom for a good amount of time.

- Shaun Burgoyne barely played and is chronically overrated.
- Peter Burgoyne has been a distracted spud for two years.
- Brendon Lade was being dropped for Fabian Deluca in 2008, hasn't been a factor for us since he was AA in 06/07.

On the flipside, hopefully we'll have Daniel Motlop, Chad Cornes and Steven Salopek back from injury more often than not in 2010.

The same Warren Tredrea who booted 51 goals and provided 20 goal assists in 21 games in a team that finished 10th?

Oh noes, we're doomed.

But I love everyone picking Port, we seem to go well when we are the underdogs.

This. There is no way in merry hell we'll win a wooden spoon. Ever.

Way, way too much talent in this Port side for us to get close to the bottom. 2008 (7 wins) and 2009 (9 wins) are the worst seasons we are gonna have for a long time. Way too much is being made of our personel losses as well:

Lade hasn't been able to run for several years
Both Burgoyne's have been useless for quite a while
Thurstans is easily replaced

We will be a much better side in 2010 than people think. The lowest we can possibly finish (if we do have a terrible season) is about 11-12th. but that is absolute worst case scenario.

Where did port come in Clearances last year???

(without S.Burgoyne, C.Cornes injured, P.Burgoyne well past it)

Port seem to be the most likely candidate to grab the spoon. The loss of some quality out of their fragile list + the fact the club is falling apart at the seams I can't see them in any way being competitive next season.

Look for 10000 to 15000 Home ground attendances from the Power in 2010.

I also believe the swans won't be to far away from the bottom...

2010:

16th: Port Power
15th: Melbourne
14th: Sydney
13th: Richmond
