Didn't hear the Peter Rhode one but heard the Luke Penny one. I assume they will be available on the Sport 927 web site.
Summary of Luke Penny's one was that he offered no new explanation on why he left except that he needed a change! He and S927 stressed that the Bulldogs did everything thing they could (including a dinner with his parents at the Smorgans in Toorak) but he had made up his mind a long time ago. Talked about his numerous injuries (is that the club fault?), being on the bench a lot and having no set position(maybe because he hasn’t performed yet).

Overall I think it made me more upset with him than before. He has no G&D! Who recruited him? Bloody as soft as Richmond, which were also after him. What a BS excuse needing a change is, a new coach/coaching panel and a chance for a fresh start was present at the Bulldogs!
In the end I think with the attitude he has he will never amount to a great player and we are better off without such a gutless player.

Listened to the Rohde interview. THings he said:

- The only reason Penny gave them was he needed a change
- Said getting rid of Kingo was his call. He felt Kingo had been there a few years, was 27 and hadn't established himself as a regular. Therefore it was time to get soemthing for him, give him an opportunity elsewhere and let one of the younger blokes have some game time
- Said that Alvey was fielding offers from other clubs. Agreed with KB that he wanted a 2-3 year contract and more money. Said that Dogs would consider a longer-than-1 year contract and would work it out in the next week or so. Said that they wanted to keep Alvey at the club but didnt sound like he (Rohde/club) was busting his hump to keep him there.

And he seemed like such a nice bloke :(

If they don't want to stay then we should let them go and try and get the best in return.

I am interested in why his low life manager did not make it crystal clear to the club before hand.
I think Penny's explanation also shows why the club did not have him signed before the seasons end

I read a quoute in the paper that said his manager tried to convince him it was in his best interests to stay at the Bulldogs but that Penny was determined to leave.

I heard what local heard, apparently even Lukes father was convincing him to stay. What annoys me however is on the weekend we thought he was staying and therefore weren't working on getting the best deal for him, then on Monday morning he tells us if he's not traded he'll go to the draft. If he wasn't scum he would have told us days earlier what was happening

He was Mark Klieman's last first round pick for us.
Yep I thought so. Obviously didn't check out is he was mentally tough enough.

Scary thing about Klieman is that Penny will probably end up being his 3rd best draftee ever (behind Johnno and Browny)...Not bad considering i doubt he would be in the top 4 of the guys Clayton got in ONE draft for us in 99.

I read the same thing however, his manager is not much more than a used car salesman
( Sorry if we have any here but you know what I mean )

I think his manager was just giving us the politically correct line
