In the Premier League Soccer on the weekend, Paulo Di Canio of West Ham caught the ball with the goal wide open and a certain victory coming up (the game was in injury time), when he saw the Everton goalkeeper lying on the ground with a badly twisted knee.
As a West Ham supporter I have mixed views on this, but do you think we would see that kind of sportmanship in the AFL.

Personally, if a player like Libertore, Hocking or Hird were lying on the ground with a twisted knee, I'd be tempted to take a couple shots at the knee before the doctor's arrived.

As a fellow 'Ammer I thought the keeper took a dive cos he knew he was screwed. The Mad Little Genius should have kicked him in the balls with one foot, and smashed the ball into goals with the other foot.

Glory pride and bloodshed
Cowards and beholders, rapers of my wisdom mix of dust and bones

Test the blade of heroes, fury of the thunder hit my golden shield

As A mad Evertonian, i can say that Gerrard wasnt faking and you could see he was in true agony, how would he know what was happening behind him.

It was also great to see the whole of goodison park stand on their feet and congratualte paolo and the hammers.

ill sayit now,Paolo di canio is the most skillfullest player in the premiership, and although hes had his problems, he seems like a nice character aswell.

Typicaly in English soccer an injured player endures a very loud rendition of 'bring on the dustbin' by opposition supporters. I have tried the same call at Eagles home games but apart from a few laughs the chant is not contagious. Similar efforts have been made with chants like ' shoot the bastard in the white' without success although 'sheedy is a w***er' was more successful.
I didn't see the West ham game ( Aston Villa reserves) but if Di Canio failed to score when he could have then he failed to do his job and if it costs them a Euro place Alf Garnet and nis mates will be sick as parrots

Surely injuries are just part of the game. and if an opportunity to score occurs because of an injury ... then so be it.

In a horse-race, if a horse breaks down and has to be pulled up, the rest of the field doesn't stop. If they did ... all the jockeys would be rubbed out for not trying.

I would be ropeable if I saw a Collingwood player display that kind of "sportsmanship". Hopefully it will never happen.

I actually think that the West Ham guy should have been charged with throwing the game ... seriously.

And Walshy ... that story about Watson and Dermie was hilarious ... onya, Dermie!!!

I saw it!

The keeper took a dive like Darky said! If carey went down and a collingwood player just stoped and helped the prick up i would be very pissed off!

Oh and ya cant forgot that Dermie is a champ any essendon player that goes down should not be rewarded with a player stopping!

ahh, if only Dermie had organised someone 'shot the prick' we wouldn't have had to put up with the bastard as coach for the last two years.
Grrr....another reason to hate Dermot
