Sports game recommendations

Anyone recommend some decent sports games?

I play a lot of Plaay's History Maker Baseball. Awesome game. They have a good NFL game too.

Id love a good cricket game but there isn't much out there. Ive seen a lot of car racing games which look interesting.

Id take a decent cards and dice sports game over any video game every day of the week.

Depends what you mean by sports games. There are games like Dreadball, Guildball, Bloodbowl, and Slaughterball that have miniatures moving about a playing field in games inspired by Ice Hockey, NFL, and Soccer. Or there are more traditional boardgame types like Formula D

I bought Flamme Rouge a while back, and recently the expansion, Peloton. It's a very simple game, hits the theme well and has good replay value. Getting a good run here during Le Tour.

Cars are auctioned, special abilities are chosen, you pick who you think the leader will be at different points in the race, and then you move all cars by the colours on cards.

As you can see some corners are tighter than others, so you can lock up the field by playing cards that move only the cars at the back. They can't get through the car on the corner and so it jams up and your car can increase its lead.

As you 'bet' on winners, you can be in the situation where you buy cheap cars that don't win and yet you still make money off of bets.

Jab: Real Time Boxing is the best sports game I’ve played. Rounds only take 1 or 2 (frenetic) minutes. Relaxing this game is not. Not sure if it’s still widely available.
