Sorry, I can't agree, CLA: 193.6cm is just over 6'4" in the old ways.

It ain't land of the giants, & 200cm types rarely zip about the place ... there's only one Buddy.

If Callow is anything like the kind of mark he appears to be, with decent length arms, a bit of size & ability to read the ball in flight, then he can play, & succeed, in a key post.

[As Draft Central noted, 'a powerful key forward who is not afraid to throw his weight around; that ain't no HFF.]

Definitely more emphasis on the tall forward as of late, but Riewoldt x2 and Rough succeeded despite being 193-195.

Also Rough and Nick Riewoldt at least appeared to play a lot taller than 193, as does callow from his highlights. Good reach and takes em up high.

Following on from your post, not disagreeing...

Reiwoldt, Rough & Reiwoldt are exceptionally good/great footballers. Similarly is Gunston.

I think there's an element of if you can't be great, at least be tall to a number of the big forwards in today's game. Similar perhaps to the thinking that foot-speed + aggression can cover skill deficiencies if you get 22 guys doing the same thing at once.

Of course every club would love a champion player who kicks 600+ career goals etc., but if you can't get that guy, at least grab a 200cm guy that won't be out-marked & can chop out for the 1st Ruck. That's what I see in a lot of teams - good or bad.

There's definitely a place for 191cm - 194cm guys as KPF (or KPD) if they've got the skills & work ethic.

Agree and on that note, its really really rare for the 200cm + giants to have great athleticism and be good below the knees. Id rather have 194-195cm KPP who can display those traits consistently than a 2011cm statue like Cox. Really think that the media and supporters can get really obsessed with heights of players - both tall and small... Remember Rowell is only 180cm yet looks to be a superstar in the making..

No wonder Cox can never get a touch, the game is played at his ankles 😂

About height though I think we will keep getting taller and taller KPP as time goes on. The king brothers are 22 cm taller than Dunstall for instance. Do agree you can’t just be tall though

Bloke on the bottom of this list has every +200cm forward covered, baring kings who are still raw.

Mobility/workrate/finishing ability over height every day. Buddy had this in spades but even players like J Riewoldt and Rough had far more ability off the deck and general finishing skills than all of the 200+ cm forwards who generally aren't nimble enough to get goals outside of marking.
